I’m sure all of us have been there on that Tuesday night when you’re already bored of chicken nuggets and pasta for the week. It’s hard to come up with new things to eat when you’re hungry and especially when you’re on a budget. However, this semester I’ve been trying new foods to add to my personal menu, and it’s worked out for me so far. I still eat Ramen and instant meals, but I definitely have expanded my variety as I add new things!

Elevated Pasta Recipes

Pasta is a classic college student food because of it’s ease, but that doesn’t mean you have to eat buttered noodles every night! Noodles are so great because it all depends on the type of sauce you use. I’ve been using marinara, alfredo, teriyaki, and soy sauce in which all you have to do is buy the packet and mix it in. These sauces completely change the makeup of the dish without making it too complicated.

Seasoned Pork

I don’t really cook that often, but this meal was so good, and I happened to find it by accident! All you do is buy a pre-seasoned pork loin at Walmart or Kroger, and you put it in the oven with butter and a little bit of water for 20 minutes. I usually add a side of mac and cheese or vegetables to complete everything, and then I do homework while I wait. Make sure to buy a seasoned pork loin or then it will be unflavored!

Bagel Sandwiches

Everyone loves Bagel Street but it’s hard to go out every time you’re in the mood for a warm bagel sandwich. Instead, I buy bagels and make the sandwiches at home! All you need is your favorite meat, cheese, and toppings, and then you toast it for 5 minutes. This is also one of my favorite meals because it is so quick to make, and it feels like you just went out to eat.

Lettuce Wraps

This has been my favorite snack throughout the semester due to its ease and convenience. It’s basically a walking salad! All you do is buy romaine hearts, meat, cheese, and toppings of your choice. It feels healthy to eat and its surprisingly delicious!

I am still working on the variety of food I eat, but I love trying new things. Hopefully, this article inspires you to try some of my favorite snacks and meals, or maybe you’ll invent something of your own. Happy eating!
