Like money, confidence is something that everyone wants but struggles to achieve. And most of the time, you just fake it until it becomes a habit. Luckily, there are songs and anthems that make being confident less challenging and more of a lifestyle. This handful of pop culture encourages women empowerment and confidence while redefining what it means to be a woman in society.

“No Scrubs” by TLC

The first song that came to mind was the classic, “No Scrubs” by TLC. This anthem introduces the term “scrub” and how it coincides with arrogant men who catcall women. This song encourages women to not settle for men who publicly disrespect them, and instead, they should put themselves first. The lyrics allow women to feel powerful and important while not letting men put them down. This song can be played for any occasion, and it is best suited for dancing with friends, singing in the car, or curving a toxic ex.

“WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion

The next popular song that encourages women empowerment is “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. This famous TikTok song has incited millions of dances and videos that emphasize women’s sexuality and pleasure. The lyrics normalize sexual freedom in which women should choose their sexual partners without repercussions. The song praises the female anatomy while teaching young women to be proud of who they are and what they want to do with their bodies. With this song, women are encouraged to control their own desires and not be ashamed of what they want. This can also be played for any occasion, but it is highly suggested that the audience is mature due to its adult content.

“Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa

The third song that I chose is “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa. The popular pop song redefines the rules for dating in which she doesn’t let her ex control what she does with her social life. She makes it clear that her breakup won’t shatter her independence and that her self-growth is more important. This empowering song gives strength to women who were in a relationship while also encouraging them to work on themselves. This catchy beat can be played at clubs, alone in a dorm room, or just to make you feel good about yourself.

Overall, there are millions of empowering songs to choose from, but these are just a few that reinvent the way women are perceived. In today’s day in age, women should feel confident no matter the circumstance. Thanks to pop culture, these songs can encourage that mentality.
