Ready for the fall season? Bringing out your Uggs and sweaters now that the weather is nice; these items will be even more cute when going out. Here are a few fall date ideas in the Hampton Roads area that would not only be enjoyable events, but possibly a new Instagram post in the making! These activities can be done solo or duo, whether it’s going as significant others or as friends.

A hands-on, crafty place to go to is Color Me Mine located in Norfolk. It is a walk-in studio, so you don’t have to worry about making reservations. There are pre-made ceramics options that you can choose from, whether it’s a coffee mug, vase, or one of their other selections. After choosing a piece, you then pick out paint brushes, sponges, and various colors of paint. Once you are finished painting your piece it takes seven days in order for it to be glazed and kiln-fired. For the fall season, there are special decor options that you could add to your room or for everyday use. A few Halloween options they offer include a spooky mug, boo cauldron, jack-o-lantern, skele-corn bank, antiqued skull mug, celestial spider jar, eyeball cupcake, and Halloween candy bowl. Options for fall decor are a sweater weather plate, marble effect pumpkins, gnome, pumpkin mug, striped platter, apple cider mason jar, a mug with many mushrooms, and a cute pumpkin box.

Although streaming platforms are a convenient way to watch films, going out to a movie theater can be fun while hanging out with your friends or by yourself. A cool place to catch a movie is Naro Expanded Cinema located in Norfolk. Naro is not like your typical movie theater, it’s a historical theater that has been open since 1936, screening live shows and movies that range from multiple decades. The ticket prices are inexpensive, and may be purchased online or in-person; seats are first come first serve. Outside of the building, they have a marquee which is a nice setting to take pictures. Besides pictures, you can also have a scenic place to log your film on Letterboxd. If you aren’t familiar with the app Letterboxd, it is a platform where you are able to review and rate movies, as well as offering additional features such as a watchlist for movies that you would like to see in the future that can be viewed on your own profile.

Want your pictures to feel like they belong on a Pinterest board? Going to a pumpkin patch is another amazing activity to do, and you are also able to pick a pumpkin out to carve and decorate. There are multiple locations throughout the 757 that offer pumpkin patches; a few are Hickory Ridge Farm , Hunt Club Farm, Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch, and Calvary Virginia Beach Pumpkin Patch.

Her Campus ODU Staff Writer Lilly Wilder suggests the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk as a great activity for the fall. College students are eligible for a student discount, making admissions only twelve dollars. Other discounts for admissions are offered with a proof of a valid ID, but more information can be found on their website.

Mount Trashmore Park offers scenic views and activities that are fall themed. The park is hosting a free event called “Autumn in the Air” that takes place on Saturday, Nov. 7th. An alternative option if you aren’t interested in the festival is hosting your own picnic at the park, bringing a choice of snacks, blankets, fashion sense, books, and an Autumn playlist.

For all Gilmore Girls fans and coffee lovers, there are numerous cafes to try this fall. Cure Coffeehouse, which has different locations in Hampton Roads, offers comfortable seating along with food, coffee, wine, cocktails, and beer. Another cute cafe located in Suffolk is Café Davina, which is a boutique bed and breakfast that does not require reservations. The interior decor and exterior settings create a perfect opportunity to bring out your digital camera, or start a photoshoot with friends.

An amazing place to upgrade your wardrobe for the season — alongside shopping secondhand — can be by attending Honeymoon Vintage Market. The store is in downtown Norfolk, housing many vendors located in the 757 area who offer various selections such as blouses, dresses, handbags, jeans, shoes, and more. Many of the selections are staple pieces, or re-wear items that can be ideal on a daily basis. Honeymoon hosted a 90s fashion lineup following the theme of the Scream movie franchise on Oct. 16, and will host another market from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 30. Bringing your friends or going solo is sure to be a nice way to enjoy Halloween eve.

There are many events that can make this season very spectacular, especially if you are in school or work. Not only are these festive activities, but they also give you a break to relax and spend time with either yourself, friends, or a significant other. A lot of these places have settings that are asking to be in your camera roll to show off your fashion sense, and even be in a photo dump for your next fall post!
