Rooftops – Kiah Victoria
Good morning New York City! If you’ve just groggily woken up I know your first instinct is to grab your laptop and feed your gossip mill with updated sightings on baby Harper Beckham and news about Jennifer Anniston’s new boyfriend. And I’m sure you probably haven’t even opened your blinds yet! Come on New York, it’s been a few gorgeous days and it appears that Punxsutawney the groundhog lied and spring is on the way.
Last week I gave you guys a soundtrack to a rainy day. This week, my mood has drastically improved. I’m in such a glorious mood that I just want to frolic in fields of bright yellow daisies and wear long bohemian dresses and boycott shoes. All because of this good weather. Let’s hope it sticks for good!
While you’re cleaning out your closst and moving your spring dresses to the front, plug your iPhone in and jam to this song, “Rooftops” by Kiah Victoria. This happy-go-lucky tune will get you prancing around with your windows open, singing to the world like you’re Snow White with a freshly clean household.
The song is cute and innocent, and Kiah sings about just wanting to spend time with a lucky fellow, laying around and just enjoying being alive. When can you truthfully say you’ve taken a step back in the city to just breathe for once? I know that’s a negative for me.
My only complaint that stops me short from breaking out in song in the middle of Union Square is that I was left with the feeling that I was missing on the full experience. Maybe it’s because there isn’t a key change, and I’m a girl who lives off of key changes. But I think the latter has to do with the fact that this girl can sing, and damn can she belt. But where is this talent accentuated in this song? I just hope in the future, she projects her vocal abilities and blows us all away because I know she can “Jennifer Hudson” serenade us any day.
Be sure to follow this beautiful miss on her facebook for new song releases. Without a doubt, I know she’s going to be something big very soon.
Video Release – We Stole the Kids
The band, We Stole the Kids just unleashed their debut music video, “All In My Head” upon this world. Now if you’re like me, you love alternative and hip-hop/rap. Combine these two popular genres and you get this band, best of both worlds in one.
Based out of Long Island and Westchester County, NY, they combine the latter and bring you a song that yields both pop and indie sounds. Visually, this music video keeps your senses alive with the scenery switches, bright neon colors and smoky effects. As WSTK say, “Music stole us when we were young, now we are stealing you.”
Be sure to be on the lookout for this sextet’s debut EP, Late Night Episode to be released next month. For now, keep updated with this band and follow them on twitter and facebook.
