Patterned & Print: If you’re feeling bold and envy the courage of fashion icons like Rihanna and Lady Gaga who dress to make a statement, don’t feel afraid by experimenting with pair of patterned or printed tights.  Whether tye-dye, floral, leopard or dogtooth catches your eye, it is possible to rock a pair of crazy tights with the right outfit.  Look to these stars for styling tips; keep your outfits simple and in a solid color without prints.

Lace & Opaque: In the dead of New York City winter, walking outside in a pair of lightweight lace tights would be detrimental to your gams.  Don’t fret; there is a solution! Simply layer a pair of skin-colored tights underneath your lace and opaque pair to rock the look without killing your legs. Looking to amp it up? Opt for a color instead of nude to infuse color and funk.

Colored & Rich: Donning a pair of velvet-colored tights this holiday season is ideal for a holiday party, a New Year’s Eve extravaganza, or simply a day of bargain hunting. Choose a deep burgundy like Blake Lively, a deep navy like Hayden Panetierre, or a deep olive green like designers off the runway.  Pair with a glitzy dress, a more casual formal option, or an everyday outfit.  Keep the tempo rich so make sure to wear the tights within the same color palette; dark grey and black go best with black and red, blues and greys with navy, and yellows and greens with olive. Always stick to one color palette!

Leggings for Warmth: When your iPhone tells you it’s in the 20s outside and throwing a pair of jeans doesn’t seem like the most appealing option, opt for an alternative and throw on a pair of UnderArmour ColdGear Frosty Compression tights in black or navy, or their ColdGear Fitted leggings in black or grey.  Designed to trap body heat under a layer of soft and double-sided fabric, UnderArmour’s ColdGear products will keep you warm “no matter what Mother Nature throws at you.”  Wear with a dress or an oversized sweater and boots, and don’t worry; unless you wear them strictly as pants, the logo will be imperceptible due to its location high on the hip.

Sweater & Thick: We all need a pair of thick tights for battling the cold, and another option that doesn’t entail layering like UnderArmour’s ColdGear is a pair of thick sweater tights. Usually ribbed and often made of wool, sweater tights are ideal to pair with a pea coat or a trench coat.  Avoid wearing them directly with a sweater that’s ribbed; instead, don a pair and mix and match these sweater tights with a blazer and shorts or a fur jacket.  Stick to neutral colors like black, grey and cream that will go with almost any colored winter coat.
