Marketing Society is a marketing-focused, community-based club at NYU. I joined the club as a freshman last year. Currently, I’m the Co-Director of Conference Planning and Professional Outreach, and I’m working on planning a school-wide case competition. While the Marketing Society is affiliated with Stern, our members (including e-board members) are from various schools across NYU.
Marketing Society has the perfect balance between professional and social events. We host professionals from various companies across several industries. In the past, we’ve had speakers from brands like Disney, L’Oréal, Mastercard, Sony Music Entertainment, Snapchat, and more. Recently, we’ve had speakers from Pinterest and AdAge talk to us and are expecting some from Facebook and ViacomCBS to come soon.
These events are a great way to learn more about marketing within different industries and connect with professionals, some of whom are NYU alums. For our social events, we usually host Adversaries and member bonding events. In ADversaries, we watch different company-themed ad campaigns and discuss our opinions- whether we liked them or not, if we thought they were successful or not, and why. Students are also able to participate in mock pitches for their campaign ideas. We recently had a Super Bowl-themed ADversary!
Beyond the meetings, Marketing Society is a great community! They gave me a community to be apart of when I was new to NYU. I always felt welcomed when I walked through the door. What makes the club what it is…is the people. While in-person gatherings are on hold this semester, we have still been able to have an in-person level of connection. Marketing Society has the most interesting, fun, and passionate members and leaders! There’s always so much to learn, and of course, so much laughter and smiles to spread.
Marketing Society meets virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:45 pm on Zoom. Come to our next meeting to learn more about marketing, make friends, and join an amazing community. I hope to see you there!
