On the Lookout: My Favorite New Products In Sustainable Beauty!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

I don’t know about you but when I wear makeup, I am always very cautious of what goes onto my skin. I wear makeup about one percent of the time because my skin is so sensitive. Then I met Roen Beauty!

In the past I have struggled with acne, eczema, and dry skin, all at the same time. I am also on acne medication. However, while using Roen, I have not experienced any itchiness or irritation with their products like I have with other beauty brands.

In a makeup brand, I always look for something that is easy to work with and easy to apply as I often don’t have the time for precision. There is no way you can “mess up” with Roen. Everything goes on effortlessly. Whether you are a first time makeup user or a makeup artist, this is the beauty brand for you!

A bit of a background on Roen beauty: it was founded by Tiffany Thurston Scott and celebrity makeup artist Nikki DeRoest in LA. The company started when Tiffany became obsessed with health and wellness. She knew that it was important to be conscious of what she puts on her skin, which inspired her to create Roen beauty!

I have previously spoken about Roen Beauty and just how much I love their products and of course this time I have to mention how they have managed to one themselves up! They have recently introduced some amazing new products: a new palette and new lip gloss trios.

Roen Beauty products are cruelty free (leaping bunny certified), 100% recyclable, and ethically sourced! The shimmer they use in their products is from mica and not glitter which means that there is absolutely no plastic. Most of the time, brands do use glitter which can irritate your skin. The mica utilisied by other beauty companies on the market are collected from child labor, but luckily, Roen has a traceable supply chain, making their mica ethical!

For Roen, clean beauty means creating formulas that are vegan, gluten free, and comply with European Union’s standards for clean cosmetics (by not using 1300 “harmful ingredients”).

To give you an understanding of how this feels on your lips, think of a buttery lip balm. Now add color and glow. Yeah. It’s that good. This formulation is for anyone who hates sticky lip glosses. It’s also for all the people out there who have chapped lips like me who need a product to nourish and repair their lips while looking fabulous.

If you are interested in Roen Beauty, their Kiss My Liquid Lip Balm Shimmers are available at their website as well as on Saks Fifth Avenue and Revolve. With this collection, they are also releasing a new palette called Mood 4 Ever which came out May 1st on their website as well as in Revolve, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Blue Mercury.

Roen Beauty is also planning to extend into face products as well which will most likely be free of synthetic fragrances. I of course, absolutely cannot wait for this launch!
