How To Dress Like Rihanna on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

Miss @badgalriri doesn’t only take the crown for her fabulous voice and performing skills. The R&B and Pop singer is also idolized for her fashion and killer style. Rihanna always takes risk with her outfits. Even with simple clothing pieces, Rihanna’s attitude when it comes to fashion is “go big or go home.” Her confidence shines through all her outfits, and because no meme or fashion critic can tear down this powerhouse, Rihanna is our fashion inspiration for the week.

For the most part, Rihanna usually wears haute couture or any piece from high fashion, which most of us collegiettes cannot even dream to afford. With two outfit inspirations, here is a short guide on how to dress like Rihanna, despite our college budgets.

The first outfit is geared towards spring or summer weather. What I like about this outfit is that Rihanna puts together simple pieces to create a stylish and memorable outfit. Although casual, it attracts any fashion lover’s eye. If you can’t find an old denim shirt in your dad’s closet, Target has a cute alternate for $23 dollars. And if bleaching old shorts isn’t really your thing, H&M is selling white shorts for $20.

If you do not have access to accessories such as Rihanna’s mustard Chanel or Gucci, you can always find an affordable crossbody bag that is just as cute in places such as Forever21, Nastygal and ASOS.

The second outfit is a two-piece pantsuit. The one Rihanna is wearing in the photo is an Edun S/S 15 suit which she sports with her Manolo Blahnik Chaos ankle strap shoes. Our budgeted version of the outfit consist of a white Forever21 blazer ($40) complemented with white pants brought to you by H&M for $30! Of course we can’t forget shoes, and Charlotte Russe has adorable ankle strap shoes for $18!

Want to be more daring with your outfit? Try this white sleeveless blazer from Missguided that is on sale for just $25! Experiment with these fashionable pieces and see what suits your style best. I wish everyone a fantastic time shopping! Adios amigo!
