Her Campus NYU’s Guide to Must-Read NYC Blogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

With the rise of social media naturally came the ascent of certain superstar influencers who tweet, instagram, pin, and post the fabulous aspects of their daily lives. These social media queens have taken the idea of “blogging” and amplified it across numerous platforms to create their own personal brands. All of the bloggers featured below showcase the prettier, more glamorous side of life, while offering helpful tips and tricks to their loyal readers. Blogging has become popular throughout the United States, and beyond, but here I present my top four favorite New York City-centric lifestyle blogs. There is something extra-exciting about knowing the places the bloggers photograph and write about are a mere walk, or subway ride away. Get prepared to be inspired by some fabulous young women!

The College Prepster

Quirky. Type A. Workaholic.
http://www.thecollegeprepster.com/

Carly Heitlinger, the mastermind behind The College Prepster, started blogging about her daily trials and tribulations during her undergrad years at Georgetown. Upon graduating in 2012, she moved to New York, scored an awesome job and promptly quit that job one year later to work full time on her personal brand, and to pursue her passions. She posts gorgeous photo shoots, beauty tips, fashion advice and many of her personal dilemmas and ponderings. One of my favorite parts of Carly’s blog (she writes so personally that I feel like I know her well enough to call her Carly!) is her weekly “On My Radar” list of the little-known as well as trending websites, stores, videos, etc. on her mind at the moment. The College Prepster is the prefect balance of whimsical and real, and also a great source of inspiration for college girls hoping to make a splash upon graduation!

The LoDown

Lifestyle by Lo Bosworth
http://thelodown.com/

Everyone’s favorite BFF, The Hills’ Lo Bosworth, is back with a lifestyle blog to end all lifestyle blogs. A California girl at heart, this busy New York City transplant approaches bustling city life with a fun-loving, carefree attitude that just about anyone can get on board with. She recently launched The LoDown website along with its flourishing YouTube channel, and will likely continue to expand her social media empire. The LoDown focuses on food, fashion, health and beauty, offering makeup tutorials and holiday meal how-tos as well as insights into all of Lo’s favorite things. I’m looking forward to watching the blog grow and accumulate more content because what she has so far is nothing short of a virtual dream world

amy stone

http://www.amy-stone.com/

Amy Stone’s blog is ultra hip and super chic. Her posts are primarily beautifully composed photos of foods you will want to eat, clothes you will want to wear, and places you will want to go. She includes cute captions, and never capitalizes words so you know she’s the real deal. I originally came across Amy’s work from The College Prepster, since she and Carly are good friends. I’ve stayed hooked because of her cool vibes and stunning pictures. (Bonus: she recently embarked on a journey to find the best brunch spots in NYC, so get ready for some great recommendations!)

Habitually Chic

Glamorous Lives & Stylish Places
http://habituallychic.blogspot.com/

Interior decorator and photographer Heather Clawson is another blogger who is the real deal. Like Amy Stone’s blog, her posts are mostly drop dead gorgeous photos of the prettiest New York places! From autumn in Central Park to beautiful architecture to the trendiest accessories, Heather is your girl. She even wrote a book inspired by blog posts! Though Heather is beyond her college years, her fashionable lifestyle is entirely enviable. Be sure to check out her shopping guides!
