It’s not surprising that now that winter has come, your fitness schedule has gone. Do you really want to put your sneakers and heavy coat on in order to work off the holiday snacks you’ve undoubtedly been stocking up on? No. Absolutely not. Right now with finals and the impending snow, bear hibernation tactics are looking pretty good. Unfortunately life for us humans goes on, so here are a few tips to get you in the mood to stay in shape and maintain that summer beach body.
1) Get motivated
Getting to the gym is half the battle, but winning it may be easier than you think. Sometimes all it takes is a push out of bed, a couple of cups of coffee, and voila, you’re out the door on your way to leave behind a few calories.
2) Get ready
For the love of God, make sure you have the right workout gear. Don’t be that girl wearing close to nothing at the gym; the polar vortex will show you no mercy. Dress warmly, dress to make yourself feel good, and dress in a way that doesn’t hurt your body. The right pair of sneakers can go a long way, both now and in the future. Your feet will thank you later on.Â
3) Get relaxed
Remember, it’s ok to take a day off. If your bed is begging you to stay a few more hours under the sheets, just skip the gym. Your body has funny ways of telling you its needs to take it easy; its best to adhere to them.
4) Get educated
Some people may shy away from the idea of taking a class in a crowded room full of intimidating exercise fanatics. And we totally relate! That’s why Her Campus NYU is partnering with Reebok FitHub to show you that this doesn’t always have to be the case. On December 7th at 4 PM, the Reebok FitHub located in Union Square will be hosting a workout and nutrition class tailored for NYU students and the daily stresses of collegiette life. It will be a laid back and super informative event that will not only get you out from hibernating in your room, but will help you stay active in those freezing temps by making even just 10 minutes a day of fitness fun. We know we’re going to be working off that Thanksgiving pie, and we hope you’ll join us on December 7th at 4 PM at 1 Union Square West. There will be a professional fitness advisor teaching us how to tone up using nothing but our own body weight, and how even just a few minutes of exercise a day can help shape the body or mind. Read more about Reebok FitHub Union Square here and take that much needed study break and come work out with us!
