6 Ways To Jumpstart A Healthier Life

If you’re feeling stressed, down or low on energy, this is what you need to be reading. Taking these small steps in your everyday life will not only make you healthier, but happier as well!

1) ​Start moving more           

This does not even have to be hitting the gym everyday. Opt to skip the subway for a walk to class instead! You can even try something more challenging like taking an entertaining dance class, doing yoga in the park or playing your favourite sports with your friends. Here are some benefits of working out that will motivate you to get moving.

2) Remember to get an ideal amount of sleep

Studies show that you should be getting at least seven to nine hours of sleep per night. If you’re a night owl and prefer staying up way past your bedtime, set an alarm to keep yourself on track. Try not to binge watch another episode on Netflix or start your 1500 word essay at midnight. A good night’s sleep will help you lose weight, feel happier and even make you live longer! Here are some small things that will can help you get a good night’s rest.

3) Focus on your mental health

Have you ever had certain people in your life constantly trying to bring you down? Maybe it’s time to cut them out of your life. Good mental health strengthens your relationships, your physical health and most importantly, gives you a peace of mind. Don’t be ashamed to get help and take time to focus on yourself. 4) Don’t forget to drink water

 

Many of us forget to drink enough water daily. The ideal amount of water you must drink is 2 litres, or half a gallon a day. Drinking water helps improve your skin, treats headaches and assists with weight loss. For those of you who suffer from the occasional hangover, water can take your headache down by a notch and lessen the feeling of having a dry mouth. 5) Remember to breathe

 

Many of us don’t breathe properly. We take more shallow breaths than we should and forget to breathe consciously. Posture is also another factor in the way we breathe. Remember not to slouch and take some deep breaths every once in awhile. It will free your brain of clutter and make you less anxious. Here is a guide on how to breathe properly.
