5 Book-to-Movie Adaptions You Must Read and Watch

1. How to Be Single

The novel, by Liz Tuccillo, was just made into a major motion picture starring Rebel Wilson and Dakota Johnson. It is an empowering, girl-filled comedy set in the greatest city in the world (yes, New York!). Settle in with the book first, and then hit the theater, or do whatever you prefer.

2. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

If your sense of humor is similar to comedies like the Hangover and Superbad, you will like the book: Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates: And a Thousand Cocktails.  Brothers Mike and Dave Stangle tell stories of their respective childhoods, college years and one time when they posted a Craigslist advertisement for two wedding dates (which, by the way, ended up going viral and made them famous). The movie version is due out in July, and stars a hilarious cast that includes Zac Efron, Adam Devine and one particularly hilarious lady—Anna Kendrick.

3. Me Before You

Me Before You is another must-read novel. It tells the story of an upbeat woman who takes a job as caretaker of a quadriplegic man, attempting to show him the happier sides of life. The heart-warming film adaptation is due out in theaters in March, and stars the beautiful Emilia Clarke, as well as heartthrob Sam Claflin (Hunger Games anyone?).

4. Allegiant

If you like action-packed, dystopian novels with a touch of romance, this Veronica Roth series is for you. The next installment of the Divergent movie series comes out in mid-March. The returning cast includes just a few favorites, from Shailene Woodley to Theo James and Ansel Elgort,

5. The Girl on the Train

In case you haven’t already read this best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins, try to pick it up before next fall. The motion picture is to be released in October, and stars Emily Blunt among other talented actors and actresses. The psychological thriller is about, well, for lack of a better description—a girl on a train.
