Why is Go-Go so important to so many people? Go-Go originated in D.C. and was a way for many to become musical artists of their own subgenre (a mix of funk and soul). Go-Go got its name because the beat continues to go on, transitioning into another song without changing the beat itself (it just GOesand GOes). It has become a staple in the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and has been around since the 1960’s. Recently though, authorities in both Washington D.C. and Prince George’s County in Maryland have viewed Go-Go concerts and bands as a point  of violence.

Since the protests and the online traffic towards #DontMuteDC, the Go-Go music will live on at the Metro PCS store yet again. The CEO of T-Mobile, John Legere, tweeted that “The music will go on and our dealer will work with the neighbors to compromise volume.”
