Why Easter is Overrated

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Spending 2+ hours hunting for eggs around a garden while characteristically British Springtime rainclouds gather overhead can only be fun when you’re under the age of 10. Those clouds are a metaphor for every teenager and adults mood.

And there always seems to be something getting in the way of you winning…

The Easter Bunny is like the less loved child in the family with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. And these kids don’t look too happy to be collecting their eggs…

It’s great isn’t it, receiving all that chocolate. What could be bad about that?! But you’ll fall in to one of two camps…

1)    You eat it all shamefully quickly, leaving yourself feeling nauseous, ashamed and fat.

2)    You only want what you don’t have, so you hoard 6 Easter eggs in your room for 3 months, won’t let anyone else eat them, then throw them away when they start turning a funny colour.

And of course, for some of us, Easter means an obligatory trip to Church at 10am. There is a deeper meaning behind all the gluttony after all. Best behaviour kids!

But let’s not be pessimistic here, Easter is a time for everyone…

…so Happy Easter to all our readers!

But for now, her favourite pastimes include nightclubs, ebay, cooking, reading, hunting down new music, watching thought-provoking films, chatting, and attempting to find a sport/workout regime that she enjoys!
