Seeing as it’s now autumn – a popular time of year in terms of beauty trends – we thought we’d share our top makeup picks for the season. Simply searching the words ‘Autumn Makeup’ on Pinterest will give you a solid understanding of what the words means (think Disney villain slash vampire queen…but really toned down and wearable…). The Pinterest page gets adorned with these classic, vampy makeup looks that have very much become a signal to indicate that Autumn is well and truly here. So, grab yourself a pumpkin spiced beverage and prepare to warm up your colour palette with smokey brown, deep berry and muted mauve shades.

Smokey eyes are in all year round, but autumn means getting out the shimmering metallics (very in this season) along with the mattes. The intensely pigmented Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadows offer the traditional autumnal colours such as chocolate browns, toasty coppers, and rich golds in mattes, metallics, and shimmers. The shades On and On Bronze, Eternal Gold, Permanent Taupe, and Vintage Plum are perfect for creating the most stunning smokey eyes for this season. The smooth, creamy gel formula allows easy application and seamless blending with no cracking or creasing so; you can master anything from a subtle smokey eye using just one colour to a multi tonal dramatic smokey eye as seen all over Pinterest!

This season’s blush is taking over the ‘contour on fleek’ craze, literally. Place your blush halfway between where you would normally apply your blush and where you would place your cheek contour. Instead of using a typical blush colour, opt for an in-between blush and contour colour such as bronze, copper, mauve, or even a deep berry. You’ll actually be contouring your cheeks and adding colour at the same time which creates an ultra chic effect on the face as seen on runway models. (What should we call it, ‘blushtouring’?) A frosty shimmer looks very pretty this time of year, but of course that’s not to everyone’s taste, a light wash of a matte colour looks equally as enchanting. Bourjois Little Round Pot Blushes (depuis 1863!) tick all the boxes and have you covered with a range of autumnal colours, such as Santal, Sienne, Rose Eclat, and Rose The.

Next up is a well-known, well-hyped, and well-loved product. Yes, it’s the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. It has the famous formula of a liquid lipstick which dries matte, except doesn’t crack, feel heavy, or dry out your lips. Oh, and it’s affordable and easily accessible too since we now have a NYX counter here in Nottingham’s Boots Victoria Centre (yay!). It comes in a wide selection of colours which will ensure that you’re always on trend for the autumn season. The berry colours (probably the most popular autumn shade ever?) are great. Copenhagen, the red toned berry one, will give you the rose bud mouth of a flapper and the full on vampy look can be achieved with Transylvania purple!

Our last pick is Essie Nail Polish, the nail polish that’s both great quality and pretty affordable. It has a creamy formula that’s completely opaque with only one coat and has a good shine, what else could you possibly want from a nail polish? It comes in a wide variety of colours, but their autumnal ones are just on another level! Bordeaux (a deep wine), Soul Mate (a deep plum), and Wicked (an extremely dark, brown toned red) are a few of the killer colours that will give you those dark femme fatale nails (like in the movies) so you will no doubt, SLAY all autumn long.
