As an avid Love Island fan, this season has certainly surpassed my expectations. It gave the right combination of drama, good fashion and a mix of contestants to make me seriously consider watching Winter Love Island again ( the summer version is superior and you cannot convince me otherwise.) Kai and Sanam winning was also amazing, two people with ordinary jobs and who are going to donate part of their 50k winnings are the only deserved champions in my opinion. So, when I decided to write this week’s article, I knew I need to instantly consult my housemate and fellow Love Island fanatic, Esther to compile this list. We brainstormed and eventually narrowed it down to these ten moments so without further ado, I present the best and most memorable moments of Love Island 2023.

1. SAMIE

I could honestly write a whole article about how much I love Samie. Her incredible wardrobe, her tan, her no-nonsense attitude….. the list goes on. Bonus points for when she got incredibly drunk at movie night and shouted at Will.

2. KAI SHOUTING KIM AT SOMEONE WHO WAS MOST DEFINITLEY NOT KIM

I think this was the moment my opinion of Kai changed for the better. His confidence and the awkward silence that follows arguably certifies this moment as the funniest of the season.

3. THE ZARA/TOM/OLIVIA TRIANGLE

Zara was most definitely kicked off the show way too early. Her fights with Olivia, calling Tom a community penis and her TikTok references meant we were never deprived of entertainment. Also when Tom had his tantrum after being exposed and throwing his jacket was hilarious, giving true Troy Bolton vibes.

4. MOVIE NIGHT

This year’s Movie Night was probably the only one in Love Island history in which no couple was spared from drama. Highlights included: Olivia being exposed (if this didn’t happen, I would have stopped watching the show,) Martin eating the popcorn whilst Tanya and Shaq argued and everyone being completely smashed.

5. NICE GUYS ALWAYS FINISH LAST

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone seriously use this phrase outside of Twitter yet this season, it was uttered every five seconds. Starting with Casey after he got pied by Lana after less than a day of being coupled up and ending with Shaq after Tanya came back with Martin, if there’s one message to take away from this season, it’s most definitely nice guys finish last.

6. CASA AMOUR

Terrace trysts, betrayals and whose Kai again? Casa amour and the subsequent recoupling was so good this season. I think I speak for all of us when I say Will straying from Jessie was not on the cards and was a complete shock to the system. Also, seeing Kai refuse to apologise to Olivia after she went completely psycho on him marked the start of an important redemption arc that was necessary for him to win.

7. FARMER WILL

Whoever decided to put Farmer Will in the Villa did this season a massive favour. From his dancing in the heart rate challenge to channelling his inner roadman when the Villa ganged up against Jessie, Will was definitely the most loveable Islander of this season. Minus points for his antics in Casa.

8. CASEY STRAYING FROM CLAUDIA A DAY AFTER NEW BOMBSHELL ROSIE CAME IN

I still don’t understand why Casey decided to drop Claudia for a girl he had known for a day. Oh well, his loss.

9. FEMALE EMPOWERMENT (FOR THE MOST PART)

This might be a bit of a controversial one as the villa was embroiled in a toxic femininity row but I really loved how the girls had each other’s back when it came to dealing with the fallout of their boy’s actions in Casa.

10. TWITTER

I honestly don’t think I would watch Love Island without having Twitter. Checking it as soon as the Just Eat appears on screen has become a ritual at this point. Sometimes only a meme can truly capture how you are feeling and with users uploading them almost instantly, there is certainly enough variety to choose from. However, there is a downside to this as I think my thumb broke from liking every Olivia hate tweet that came up on my feed.
