Six Things To Do In Nottingham This Christmas

Hey Collegiettes! Here are some Nottingham events to get you in the Christmas mood!

1) French and German Society go to Birmingham for the Christmas Markets!

Birmingham has been twinned with Frankfurt for more than 40 years which is why they put up a Christmas market! There are over 190 stalls including the traditional cake and biscuit stalls, decoration stalls and stalls full of cute Christmas presents! The best, cheapest Christmas presents can be found here! The Christmas market food is to die for. Gluhwein (mulled wine), grilled sausages, veggie food, German beer and lovely gingerbread and marzipan sweets! They also have a very pretty carousel!  

When: Saturday 7th December Transport: The coach leaves East Drive at 9.30am and returns roughly around 5pm

Reasons to go: cheap and cheerful Christmas presents!

2) Ice skating in Notts!

The ice rink is back at Old Market Square! It  will be open daily from 11am-10pm with sessions starting on the hour lasting 45 minutes each hour. The last session begins at 9pm. Ice skating and a hot chocolate is fun for an outing with friends and also a very good idea for a date!

When: 30th November – 5th January

Reasons to go: Ice skating is great for a bonding sesh or a date

3) Carnage Santa & Elves!

Carnage Santa and elves fancy dress! The night includes Santa’s grotto, mistletoe, hot tubs from lap land, free sweets and a present give away!

When: Monday 2nd of December

Where: Bar crawl  – Walkabout, The Approach, Yates’s, Long Island, Forum and ending at Rock City Complex

Reasons to go: It’s one of the last nights out before the Christmas holidays!

4) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Film Showing with Cake Soc

CakeSoc’s ball is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed meaning that they have decided to screen the film to get everyone in the mood! Nothing says Christmas like this feel good movie!

When: Monday 2nd December

Where: B40 Dearing Building, Jubliee Campus

Reasons to go: A nice relaxing film to take a break from work!

5) Christian Union Carol Concert

The Christian Union are putting on a carol concert in the Trent building! The night includes sing along carols and tasty mince pies.  You can bring your friends and get everyone in the Christmas spirit!

When: Tuesday 3rd December 6pm-9pm

Where: Trent building

Reasons to go: Get in the Christmas mood with a lovely carol service

6) The Snowflake Ball 2013

This is the big one – The Snowflake Ball. This is the best part of the Karni year! The tickets include a 4 course gourmet dinner, 5 bottles of wine per table, authentic venetian entertainment with vocal and dance performances, casino tables, dodgem cars, survivor’s breakfast, raffle tickets with prizes to be announced on the night, student drink prices and finally transport and entry to the after party at Ocean! It does justify the £50 ticket price!

The theme of the night is Venetian Grandeur.

When: Tuesday 10th December

Where: Nottingham Christmas marquee on the Highfields, St Mark’s Square and Ocean

Reasons to go: It’s a once in a lifetime event!
