Review: Turning Points- NUDance Annual Showcase at the Nottingham Lakeside Arts Centre

NUDance, the University of Nottingham’s dance society has had yet another fantastic year. For the third year running they have been given the title for Best Overall Dance Society in the country, and what better way to round off the year than by showcasing their award winning dance routines in their annual dance show!

The show’s theme, ‘memorable moments of history’ was a clever idea to bring cohesion to the show, achieved by short video clips to place us in particular moments throughout time. From Ancient Egypt, to 1920’s Gatsby-glamour, right up until modern day, the performance really did take you on a trip through time.

The theme of time meant that a range of different music could be used, as well as different styles of dance, which gave the audience plenty of variety. Ballet, tap, street and jazz; there was something for everyone in this show!

All of the performers were full of energy and smiles and their talent shone through, not only in the individual dance pieces, but also in the group routines. Despite so many people on being on stage, the dancers managed to be perfectly in sync, with the complex choreography performed to perfection.

If you didn’t manage to see this year’s show, you missed out! Make sure you get a ticket next year instead, as this was a really fantastic event.
