Review: Bottomless Brunch at Revolution de Cuba

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Being a third year during a global pandemic has been very problematic. Lectures have gone online; we now have a 10pm curfew and household mixing has been limited. So, in a year where 21st birthdays seem to be happening every other week, what way is there to celebrate with all these restrictions in place? The answer – bottomless brunch!

Set in the heart of Nottingham city centre, just off Old Market Square, Revolution de Cuba is a Cuban inspired restaurant and bar that offers bottomless brunch every day. This means that you can have one brunch meal from a set menu along with as many cocktails or alcoholic drinks that you can consume in the two-hour gap as possible!

The great thing about Revolution de Cuba is the setting. The interior is classy and modern, and it felt really nice to get dressed up in smart going out clothes, particularly after being a typical student and living in lounge wear since returning back to Nottingham.

The staff were all attentive and helpful, offering mimosas and bruschetta appetisers upon arrival. What is more, you don’t have to arrive bang on your set time – so there was no stress if the group of us five girls were running late getting ready! The 2-hour period begins upon arrival.

The breakfast menu was extensive. I opted for a full English which was rather appetising although nothing special – this didn’t really matter though as the cocktails made up for it! The cocktails on offer also varied with the likes of Aperol spritz and a simple glass of prosecco on offer. The strawberry daquiris were particularly good, although as we learnt the hard way – Bloody Mary’s are not for everyone!

Bottomless brunch is becoming ever more popular and is one of the better things to emerge out of the ‘new normal’. Not only do you get a nice meal, it is also a chance to relax and enjoy as many cocktails as you please without thinking about going over budget!

The two-hour time slots at Revolution de Cuba start with the earliest being at 11am and costing £20 and increasing in price corresponding with how late in the day you go. I went at 12pm and for two hours the price was £25. Considering the full English alone should have been £8 and the average price of a cocktail being about the same – the value for money is quite something.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Revolution de Cuba, especially for bottomless brunch! A culmination of good food, good company, and good drinks (including a special sparkler daquiri for the birthday girl) made the entire experience a memorable one – for all the right reasons!
