How to Conquer Your End of University Blues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Final term has come around and you suddenly wonder where the entire year has gone. It seems like September was just yesterday, and now you have to start thinking about what the future may hold for you. You only have a couple of months left to use the “Yeh but I’m a student excuse,” so it’s about time you make the most of this and enjoy every moment you have left of your student career.

Exams and coursework deadlines are still taking over your life, but with the right amount of organising and planning you still have plenty of time to have fun before you graduate. More importantly you have just enough time to complete your final year bucket list:

To ensure you do not sink into a spiral of post-uni depression make summer plans with your friends. Just because university ends, doesn’t mean all your great friendships have to. How about going to one of this year’s great summer festivals:

Most student leases in Nottingham finish at the end of July, which gives you plenty of time to hang around after term ends. Use this time to hang out with everyone you may have neglected during revision and dissertation time, whilst absorbing Nottingham and everything it has to offer. For most of us, the end of university means the end of living here for good. Don’t regret never making a spontaneous trip to Sherwood Forest or road tripping to Alton Towers.

The University of Nottingham guarantees that its graduates get sent off in style, so don’t miss out on Graduation Ball where you can fall into the rabbit hole and step into Wonderland. A chance to glam up, dance on, and drink up, on a night to remember forever. Tickets are available here from the SU website, so do not miss out!

University is about getting a good degree, and you do not want to jeopardise that by partying toooo hard and neglecting your studies. However, when you look back at your time at University you won’t remember all the times you spent working, but you will remember the times you spent having fun with your friends. In the words of Marilyn herself: “Nothing lasts forever, so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid the bulls@*#, take chances, and never have regrets, because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted…”
