Campus Style SPOTTED: Two Girls, Two Types of Autumnal Layering

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

With the weather hitting lows of 10˚ this week everyone has either been grabbing their favourite winter coat or as many layers as possible. Our two best-dressed students for Campus Style this week are both first year English students, Lois Baglin (left) and Millie Foster-Price (right). Although both girls have seemingly dressed for the cold weather, it’s clear they’ve achieved their warmth in different ways.

Left: Lois, right: Millie.

Lois opted for a pastel blue turtle neck with her new, fluffy, Zara coat which she layered on top, thereby minimising the amount of layers she would have to wear. This contrasts with Millie who opted for an oversized black vintage ‘Harley-Davidson’ t-shirt over a long sleeve top paired with a khaki print bomber jacket. Both looks are rather vintage but also very different, with Millie’s being grungier while Lois opts for the smart-casual look. These outfits both managed to be warm for the chilly weather, but also very stylish!

Lois is wearing…

Coat: Zara

Top: Zara

Trousers: Topshop

Shoes: Dr Martens

Me: What inspired your outfit today?

Lois: I really wanted to wear something warm and I haven’t had a chance to wear this new, fluffy coat yet – so the weather chose my outfit, really!

Me: What piece of clothing / accessory completes your outfit today and why?

Lois: I’d have to say the warm coat, but I also love my Dr Martens with these cigarette trousers.

Me: What clothing item/ accessory can you not leave the house without?

Lois: My Dr Martens, I’ve had them for a few years but they will always be my favourite pair of shoes, they’re so comfy but also go with everything!

Me: Finally, what shop is your number 1 place to buy clothes from?

Lois: Either charity shops (because nobody else has it) or Zara, as they always have nice clothes.

Millie: Probably looking at other people’s outfits around Campus. Also, looking on Instagram usually helps me choose how to put my outfits together.

Millie: My pink choker completes it. It just adds a bit of something more, making my outfit more interesting!

Me: What clothing item/ accessory can you not leave the house without?

Millie: Trainers. Usually my black Nike Air Force; they’re my all-time favourite shoes. If not them then a pair of jeans, generally baggy ones.

Me: Finally, what shop is your number 1 place to buy clothes from?

Millie: I’d have to say Asos because there’s so much on there, so I always find something nice.
