If you’ve still not heard of them by now, then let me introduce you to the 5- piece indie rock/pop band the Blossoms

Hailing from Stockport and proud rightly so! The band is made up of mates Tom, Charlie, Joe, Josh and Myles. Having formed in 2013, they are not new to the music scene, however over the last few years their music has become much more widely recognised and praised. Perhaps their most recognised song would be Charlemagne which was released in 2015 but over the past few years has resurfaced and gained (as well as other songs) a new appreciation from people.

Currently Blossoms are on their UK tour ‘Ribbon Around The Bomb’ traveling up and down the country, sharing their brilliant music and their impeccable vibes and talent.

The gig itself was class, from their support artist Brooke Combe, the lighting onstage, the audience’s vibe and of course the lads themselves who oozed a bloody good bit of northern charm and humour. This was my second time seeing Blossoms live; the first being back home at YNOT (a festival in north Derbyshire); and boy they didn’t disappointment! This time the band was performing at a much more small-scale and intimate venue but nevertheless the atmosphere and electricity they produced and previously given to the audience at the festival had not been lost.

All seemed to make for a perfect gig night with the venue packed to the rafters there was a terrific atmosphere circulating around. After much anticipation Blossoms came on stage, led out by Tom with a cuppa in one hand and the mic in the other, cool from the very start…

From beginning to end the band had a captivating and dynamic stage presence with Tom’s fantastic voice and the others’ mastery of guitar, bass, drums and keyboard; I was blown away by their pure talent and their gorgeous locks! Whilst on stage it was clear to notice the many musical influences at play in their music, from Joy Division, Stone Roses, ABBA, The Smiths and non-other than The Beatles! Their unique but vaguely recognisable sound, style and image made it difficult for anyone at the gig to draw their eyes away from the stage, we were all transfixed.

Onstage the band produced a slick and highly polished setlist with smooth transitions between their songs; managing to squeeze so many songs into their hour and a half including Blown Rose, Honey Sweet, I Can’t Stand It, Your Girlfriend, A Most a Kiss, The Keeper, How Long Will This Last, and My Favourite Room to name a few!

The five lads are clearly genuinely like-able people who love performing and sharing the stage space with one another. Their chemistry onstage with one another was unmatched, and this is something which is carried off stage as well. For me their enthusiasm, vitality, humour, electricity, banter and brotherhood translate into their music and are qualities which makes them distinct and unparalleled.

Their charisma and chemistry oozed off the stage and reached out and grabbed the audience allowing us all to experience a brief moment of escapism through the power of their songs.

It wer a gooden☺
