We are well into the term now and autumn is beginning to shift into winter. The weather can be harsh on the skin, leaving it dull. Here are my top tips for keeping your radiant complexion!

Moisturise

It almost goes without saying but I know we can all get lazy with the routine. This doesn’t just include the face. Make sure you keep hand cream such as Soap and Glory’s Hand Food by the sink or in your handbag, dry or cracked hands are a no! For my winter face I use a thick Laura Mercier cream; it’s richer than the standard moisturiser and perfect to replace any lost hydration. However there are many cheaper options, such as Garnier’s Goodbye Dry (the pink tube). Don’t forget to use sunscreen; the sun can still be very strong in winter.

My lips can also get incredibly dry, so I keep a range of products kicking about in my bag to heal and prevent chapped lips. My go to product is Vaseline, which is perfect for slathering on before bed (as is Nivea creme). During the day I turn to Maybelline Babylips, which hydrate and give a wash of colour- so I still get the benefit of a lip stain or gloss without drying out my lips.

On a side note – try not to use harsh face wipes. They contain a lot of drying chemicals which are okay to use after a night out, but not all the time! Try to remove your make with gentle products such as Bioderma micellar water, which is not only fantastic at removing make up, but preps the skin for moisturiser.

Exfoliation

Now that the weather is cooler, it’s important to switch up your exfoliation routine to suite your more sensitive skin. Scrubs are great, but try to avoid the very rough ones. I prefer to use Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub in the shower. It has a lovely cooling feeling and leaves my skin feeling super soft.

I also turn to REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, which contains fruit acids to gently remove dead skin cells. This is a perfect end of week pick me up to give your complexion a boost. It is pricey, but lasts a long time, so for me is worth the spend.

Primer

Lastly if you don’t have a primer- invest in one! Products like Clarins Beauty Flash Balm are great for providing a seal to the harsh weather outside. Nivea also has a range of more affordable primers for dry and normal skin which would also do the job.

Water/Exercise

Drinking plenty of water will give an instant boost to the skin, whilst regular exercise keeps the blood flowing and gives instant radiance to your skin.

So that’s it ladies – no more excuses! Take care of your skin and reap the rewards! If you follow these tips you will have beautiful, hydrated and healthy skin in no time!
