5 Food Bloggers You NEED to Follow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Cooking whilst at uni can be hard. Most students don’t really know where to start so here are five bloggers you need to follow to help you out:

Zanna Van Dijk

Health and fitness blogger turned personal trainer, model and Adidas ambassador, Zanna Van Dijk has taken the fitness world by storm. Creating content for ALL the social media platforms (as well as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, Zanna has her own YouTube channel, is an avid snapchatter and posts regularly on her blog), Zanna is your girl if you need accessible and practical advice for kick-starting a healthier lifestyle. She too was a typical uni student, drinking too much and consuming a predominantly beige diet, but decided she’d had enough during her final 2 years of studying and hasn’t looked backed since. From workout videos, to meal ideas, to more personal posts about relationships and finding balance in all aspects of your life, Zanna’s content will leave you feeling inspired, motivated and positive. This girl keeps it real on all her social media platforms, sharing both the highs and lows.

Top with Cinnamon

Izy Hossack is a Food science and nutrition student at the University of Leeds, who uses her blog to share her culinary delights. Izy’s recipes range from indulgent to healthy (such as healthy breakfast burritos, gingerbread pancakes and homemade peanut butter cups) and use a range of cupboard staples and more adventurous ingredients. Her blog is guaranteed to give you meal inspiration when pasta (for the fourth night in a row) just won’t satisfy your needs, or for those very rare days when you’re feeling on-top of your work and have time to be a bit more creative in the kitchen. Every recipe is narrated, explaining the story behind the food, and they’re illustrated with gorgeous photos, making Izy’s blog both aesthetically pleasing and entertaining to read.

The Healthy Hangover

The average student will experience many hangovers throughout their time at university . Thankfully “perpetually hungover” student James Wragg provides easy recipes and helpful tips to nurse you back to good health. A student himself, James appreciates that students have neither time or money on their side when it comes to feeding themselves. His blog shows that even the most horrific hangovers can be cured with some nutritious yet tasty food, saving you money on greasy takeaways that will probably make you feel worse, and also encouraging you to hone your cooking skills.

Emlouisefitness

Emma Louise uses her blog and Instagram page to encourage girls to incorporate weight training into their exercise routine, as many girls shy away from the weights area, and lets face it, it can be pretty intimidating when full of grunting, muscular males. Emma regularly posts progress pictures with chatty captions sharing both the physical and mental benefits of lifting weights, busting myths that girls become ‘bulky’ and ‘manly’ from this stereotypically male type of training. Videos demonstrating exercises also feature on Emma’s Instagram, helping to increase your confidence in the weights area if you’re unsure of how to perform certain exercises, which is great for helping you to shake up your gym routine if you’re bored of the treadmill. Followers can also expect healthy recipes, often dairy free and gluten free, making them ideal for students who may be avoiding either of these, and as a self confessed foodie herself, you can be sure that Emma’s food  will taste good as well as doing good.
