5 Casual Date Places in Nottingham for Valentine’s Day 2019

If you are a romantic Valentine’s Day enthusiast, you’d probably like to mark the event this year, even if you don‘t have the time to make fancy plans and special preparations. Should you be lucky enough to have someone to celebrate with, it’s always best to discuss your intentions in advance, especially if you are a new couple and each of you wants to impress the other.

However, if you have already passed the cheesy flowers, sweets and intimate dinners phase and you’d like to go for something less formal, I have picked 5 different, casual places (that I personally recommend, not randomly chosen from the internet) where you could take your dearest one on 14th February.

NB: The suggestions in this article are completely subjective. Neither Her Campus Nottingham, nor the author of the article have been sponsored by any of the following places to promote them.

If you or your partner (or both) are gym freaks and you prefer spending your Friday evenings at the squat racks at David Ross Sports Village rather than Ocean, then surprise your swolemate with a date at Nottingham’s healthiest food place, Clean Cut Kitchen. With its vegan smoothie bowls, gluten free clean burgers, low carb and high protein waffles and wholemeal wraps, this place can offer you the ideal post-workout Valentine’s Day healthy meal, whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner time. What a better place to cheat clean with your beloved swolemate on Valentine’s Day?

Recommended: Turkey Meat Balls and Fit Fish & Chips

Price range per meal: £4 – £8

If you’ve been in Notts for a while, you’ve probably heard of cat-lover heaven, a.k.a The Kitty Café. It’s the purrr-fect date place for anyone who can’t resist fluffy paws, a piece of cake and a tasty hot drink. If your significant other is an animal lover, treating them with an afternoon tea in the company of adorable little kittens is going to be a one-time experience and he/she is definitely going to appreciate your gesture. The café is known to be one of the busiest ones in town, so to avoid any disappointment make sure you book a table in advance (£6 welfare charge per adult).

Recommended: Chocolate Cheesecake & any flavoured coffee

Price range per meal: £3 – £7

If you and your partner are neither gym goers nor cat lovers but fans of guilty pleasures, then The Pudding Pantry is the perfect place to take your date for a romantic brunch. Spoil them with a wide range of sophisticated and home-made pancakes, puddings, cakes and milkshakes in a relaxed atmosphere, especially if having sentimental cheesy dinners isn’t your cup of tea.

Recommended: American Style Pancakes & Cheesecake Brownies

Price range per meal: £4 – £10

For those who imagine their Valentine’s night out in a chilled, retro setting and a good cocktail in hand, Pepper Rocks is the place for you. A true hidden gem in the centre of Notts, the bar is the ideal date place for fans of non-mainstream, vintage, cosy venues. With happy hour deals and a range of tasty, very reasonably priced cocktails nowhere else to be found, be sure that your date is going to be a real pleasure.

Recommended: Lychee Martini & Berry Cream

Price range per drink: £4 – £7

Last but not least, if you’d like to impress your date with first-class cuisine, stylish desserts and an elegant layout, they are going to be on cloud nine at Heavenly Desserts. A real paradise on earth for high standard desserts made with passion, love and care. Waffles, crêpes, homemade chocolates and truffles are only a few of the things you can treat your valentine with and gift them the finest dessert experience.

Recommended: Guilty Indulgence & Ferrero Rocher Cookie Dough

Price range per dessert: £5 – £8
