Whether you’ve spent the past few weeks settling into halls or housing, it’s now time to add a touch of wanderlust to your sanctuary for an instant surge of inspiration.

1. World Map

It may be a standard feature of any traveller’s room, but getting a map like this one can transform any plain and dreary wall instantly. You can plot where you’ve already been with things like boarding cards, tickets and push pins, or simply use it to to dream about where you’ll go next! We love this one from Amazon.

2. Latitude-Longitude Bracelets

A simple but effective way to always carry a memory of your travels with you – because it’s not exactly practical to take your Indonesian rug to lectures! Get co-ordinates of your favourite travel destinations stamped onto an attractive metal-cut bracelet. Check out these ones on Etsy.

3. Personalised Adventure Print

This wall display collates all your treasured travel spots into one. Each luggage tag can be personalised with a name, date and destination, creating an attractive print that provides a more polished finished than using your own possibly dirty, crinkled tags you told yourself you just couldn’t let go of! We like this one from Not On The Highstreet.

4. Quote-Inscribed Pencils

No, they won’t exactly improve your productivity as you wade through reading assignments, but they’re guaranteed to make you smile. There are three cute shades to choose from and all serve as a reminder of what you’re capable of. You can also take them with you when travelling to record your adventures! We love these from Not On The Highstreet.

5. Elephant Wall Hanging

Add some bohemian vibes to your room with this quirky design that takes the design principles behind dream catchers to the next level. This one from Urban Outfitters is our fave…and it’s on sale!

6. World Map Cushion

Indulge in sweet dreams of lands far, far away when you rest your head upon this plush pillow, featuring a quirky take on a classic design.

7. Travel Funds Jar

This idea is cheap and easy to recreate yourself but there are also lots available online. Buy a mason jar, stick on some photos/draw on a design and start saving for your next trip! This one from Etsy is adorable.

8. Yanklee Candle

Whilst there are many candles that probably smell the same, none can compare to the attractive style of Yankee. They have a large variety available that add a touch of travel-themed magic to your room: with anything from the French smell of ‘Pain Au Raisin’ to the gorgeous ‘Kilimanjaro Stars’. ‘Beach Holiday’ as pictured below promises the “clean, fresh scent of ocean air”… so much better than the leftover waft of takeaways!

9. Fairtrade Recycled Sari Bunting

Add a touch of South Asia to your room with this bunting made out of beautiful recycled saris in a range of vibrant colours and patterns. Every order will be different and personal to you: guaranteed to brighten up any study space!

10. Moroccan Lantern Lights

Fairy lights have become quite the staple in any uni girl’s room, but you can express the avid traveller within you through hanging up a string of these pink and teal orb lights from Not On The Highstreet. Create your very own Arabian night in Nottingham!
