It’s Thursday night. You’ve spent the entire week camped out in Club Hes, struggling through the 10-page research paper that you put off for weeks. As you submit your paper and slam your textbook shut, you suddenly see the light at the end of the tunnel that had completely slipped your mind: you don’t have class on Fridays! The night is yours, and you’re going out with the friends you haven’t seen or spoken to in days. Nothing can stand between you and the $2 Fireball shots at Feve. And so your night commences.
Getting Ready – “Style”
“I got that red lip classic thing that you like”
As you assemble your outfit for the night, which consists of the pair of wedges you haven’t worn since last spring and that new dress from Forever 21 that you haven’t even taken the tags off of yet, you could not be more ready to get out of your dorm. You’re going to catch up with friends, enjoy some cheap drinks, and dance the night away all while looking head-to-toe fabulous.
Rolling Up to the Club – “Welcome to New York”
“It’s been waiting for you”
While you’re not actually arriving in New York, you feel just as fabulous as if you were headed out in the Big Apple. You haven’t gone out in two weeks, and Feve has literally been waiting for you.
That moment when you see your crush from across the bar – “You Belong With Me”
“If you could see that I’m the one who understands you”
You’ve had three classes with this guy since freshman year, and you’ve just about worked up the courage to actually talk to him. One more sip of your drink and you’re heading over to start a conversation. Make that two sips…
When You Hit the Dance Floor – “Shake It Off”
“I keep cruising, can’t stop, won’t stop moving”
You’re working your way over to the dance floor (after getting that guy’s number of course!) and you are literally going to shake it off – all of the stress, all of the deadlines, all of the work that has continuously piled up like a weight on your shoulders.
Waking up the next morning like… – “Should’ve Said No”
“You should’ve said no, you should’ve gone home, you should’ve thought twice before you let it all go”
When you wake up back in your dorm room with a pounding headache and your wedges still on your feet, you realize you really should have said no – to that second vodka soda, to that last tequila shot, and to the entire pizza that you inhaled when you got home.
Checking your phone – “Tell Me Why”
“I took a chance, I took a shot”
The pain only further escalates when you check your phone (*gasp*). Your snapchat story is 100 seconds long and there are less than flattering photos of you on the dance floor all over social media. Even worse, you texted that guy from the bar…9 times?! You might have to transfer schools after this incident.
The Recovery Stage – “Clean”
“Gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean”
As you wash the smell of beer out of your hair and take last night’s make-up off your face, you can finally come to terms with all that went down last night. After all, despite your mistakes and embarrassing moments, it was still a pretty great night, and you know one day you’ll cherish those memories.
