Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: A Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Every year Victoria’s Secret holds a fashion show in December. This year it was held in London for the first time.

Over the years it has evolved from a typical fashion show into a huge production with musical performances. It is mesmerizing to watch. Some would argue that it is degrading to women to make them prance around in their undergarments, however, I think it demonstrates a woman’s self confidence in being able to confidently walk in front of millions in their underwear.

Additionally, the fashion show has encompassed a more costume-ier feel than in the past. Each segment of the show has a different theme and the wings are beautiful. In my opinion, it is an expression of art. The following is a recap of what went down at the show this year.

The first theme was “Gilded Angels” so picture lots and lots of gold.

The next theme was “University of Pink” which highlighted the brand most known for bright colors and younger audience.

“Exotic Traveler” followed in suit with vibrant colors and textures.

The next segment stepped into the enchanted forest for the “Fairy Tale” theme.

“Dream Girl” was up next with tons of pastels.

The show concluded with the theme “Angel Ball” which takes a glamorous angle with black and navy.

Musical guests included Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Hozier. Poor Ariana almost had an accident during the University of Pink section. The wings of one of the models almost hit her while performing. Luckily she was able to duck out of the way.

Hey everyone! I love to write and cry over episodes of One Tree Hill (don't judge). My favorite things to write about are fashion and music. I am definitely an animal and plant lover. I'm a South Bend native so in a way, Notre Dame has always been a part of my home.
