Summer Movie Preview

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

There are less than eight weeks of school left before summer break. For some of you, that means beaches, amusement parks, and lots of sun. For those of you who are more indoorsy, such as myself, there are a lot of big summer movies you can see in the comfort of your local air conditioned theater!

May 1st: Avengers: Age of Ultron

The first Avengers movie was an enormous hit, and all of the following Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have been well received as well. This will probably be THE summer blockbuster, and for good reason. It has a star studded cast and will no doubt begin to lay the framework for the Civil War arch that will be in Captain America 3.

May 15th: Pitch Perfect 2

Acca-scuse me? Yes! The Pitch Perfect sequel is finally within our grasp! Our favorite group of gals are off to compete in nationals. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, then maybe the fact that Pentatonix (of The Sing-Off and Youtube fame) will have a cameo in the film.

June 12th: Jurassic World

Chris Pratt showed he can hold down a movie as the leading man in last year’s massive success Guardians of the Galaxy. This isn’t a remake of the classic films, but rather a sequel where John Hammond’s vision is finally realized, with potential disastrous consequences, of course.

June 19th: Inside Out

The premise for this movie is very different from most other Pixar movies, but it has a star studded cast. It’s an interesting concept and exploration into psychology and emotions, but it has the feel of a Dreamworks movie rather than Pixar.

July 24th: Paper Towns

John Green is arguably the most influential young adult author out there right now and The Fault in Our Stars was generally well received. Paper Towns stars Nat Wolff, who played Isaac in TFiOS, along with Cara Delevingne.

July 1st: Magic Mike XXL

Just ‘cuz.

What summer movies are you looking forward to?
