Name: Zuri Eshun

Hometown: Conyers, Georgia

Major: Film

Dorm: Pasquerilla East

1. What do you think makes you a campus celeb: I’m a very active member in the Film, Television & Theatre department at ND. I was invited to be a part of the ND “U Cannes Do It” Cannes Film Festival Documentary Crew, and I’ve directed a number of films and plays on campus! I’m also one of the office assistants in the FTT office, so I’m really well known in there. I know the in’s and out’s of FTT! Oh, and all my friends are hot.

2. How would you define yourself: I don’t know… awesome? Crazy-sexy-cool? My film self, I would say is a mix between Steven Spielberg because of his willingness to just go for it and Wes Anderson just because he always has a different outlook on life and you can see that illustrated in his films. Oh and Woody Allen also – he’s goofy and he doesn’t care! If you want to talk about my acting side, you could call me the black Meryl Streep lol! Only because she’s the best actress alive.

3. Favorite Domer dead, alive, or fictional: I would say Father Pete McCormick. He’s just so enthusiastic about his position on campus. He’s so passionate about being a priest and being a positive influence in people’s lives. He pushes me to try to do the same and that’s why he’s the coolest priest on campus!

4. Favorite ND memory thus far: Being in my first play on the main stage in Washington Hall. I say that because it was a very defining moment in my academic career. I knew at that point, that FTT was the path I wanted to take, not only at Notre Dame but also after college.

5. Favorite thing to do at ND: Hang out with my roommates! They’re my two best friends on campus. Whenever I’m in their company, I know I’m going to have a good time… a good laugh… a good moment.

6. Where you see yourself ten years from now: On my private yacht with my extremely hot fiancé/husband after starring in my first big successful film in Hollywood!

7. One thing that’s changed about you since freshman year: My attitude towards both campus life as well as life in general. I’m much more open and willing to try new things and talk to new people. I want to experience college and life to the fullest!

8. One thing that you wish you could change about ND:  The equipment in the DPAC basement. Although it’s really nice, it’s not up to date and we could really use new filming and editing software down there. Oh, and also the weather… that would be great.

9. Best class that you’ve taken so far: Intermediate filmmaking. While it lets you have complete creative freedom and control oG your projects, the discipline and planning that is required to have a successful production is still taught. It shows you how much discipline you need in order to have creative freedom.

10. Favorite spot on campus: The editing room in the basement of DPAC! I love it down there, its fantastic. I played tag down there once… it was great. Or on the stage in front of hundreds… can’t say thousands, because the Decio doesn’t fit that many.

12. Favorite movie at the moment: Beasts of the Southern Wild. I love that movie with all of my soul.

13. Thing that you’re trying to avoid doing: My acting character homework… and running into people that I really don’t like lol!

14. Biggest fear: Not living up to my full potential.

15. Guilty pleasure: Fruit snacks.

16. You’re stranded on a desert island with three things. They are: Liam Hemsworth, all of the complete seasons of Will and Grace, and a TV/DVD player to watch them on.

17. Favorite film industry celeb: Meryl Steep, Denzel Washington and Ari Emmanuel. I know that’s three, but oh well.

18. Favorite material possession: As of recently, this Canon 7D {camera}. Oh, and my 2 Chainz album of course. Lol!

19. Advice for underclassmen and future freshman: 1) Bring a coat… winter is always approaching. 2) If you live on West Quad… transfer immediately. NOBODY goes to West Quad. 3) North Dining Hall is the better dining hall, but nothing compares to eating off campus. 4) DON’T LOSE YOUR ID. I know from experience… things get a little complicated. If you lose your ID, it’s kind of like you don’t go here.

20. What makes someone a Domer: Not their ability to get here, but their ability to be here.
