Just as the semester starts to pick up, someone brings up that Lent starts soon.

It’s fine–you needed a second chance at that New Year’s Resolution anyway.

So you enjoy yourself (eating) on Mardi Gras.

Catholic guilt kicks in and you go to Ash Wednesday Mass.

You start out strong with giving something up and you feel V proud of yourself.

Then of course on Friday you randomly want a burger…or steak…or whatever.

But you can’t eat meat.

…Luckily you can still have alcohol to redeem Fridays (unless you gave that up, in which case, God bless you).

Things feel really hard when you realize just how long 40 days is.

On top of that, since it’s a Catholic school, everyone wants to talk about Lent and what they gave up.

Halfway through you decide maybe you should reevaluate what you gave up.

But you tough it out, because “you’re fine”.

Eventually you make it to the finish line: Easter.

And you finally get to give in! So satisfying.

Happy Lent from HCND!
