Spring break is fast approaching. After what feels like the longest winter in written history, we can’t help but count down the days (you’re literally calculating in your head right now aren’t you?). College spring break is a well-known phenomena. Spring Break always makes me think of when Ryan, Marissa, and the gang went to Tijuana (minus drug overdoses). But ever since “Spring Breakers came out, I’ve had recurring nightmares of James Franco appearing by my bed and whispering “Spraaang breaaaak forevaaaa” into my ear. Both of these give Spring Break a bad name, even though it is a time for students to let loose and have fun in warmer weather.

Whether you are going to México, Appalachia, or your grandparents place in Florida, it’s fun to shed your black parka and show off some skin.

Spring Breakers Style

If you are planning on heading down south to have a week of debauchery with friends, here are some essentials you need to throw in your suitcase.

1.  Jean Shorts

If Tobias Funke (never nude, and my personal fashion icon) can rock cutoffs, so can you. Jean shorts, or “jorts” if you prefer, are super easy to throw on over your swim suit and look cute with any top. Don’t have any? Get a pair for 15 bucks at Forever 21 (the mecca for cheap Spring break clothes).

2.  Bikini

Show off your curves and use this excuse to soak up the sun we have missed for months. If you are curvy, try out a high waisted style. It’s retro and holds in your tummy, what more could you ask for? If that’s not your style, fringed tops are also very in style, and come in all different colors at Victoria Secret.

3.  Crop top

Crop tops are literally everywhere. You can’t even buy a regular length t-shirt at Urban Outfitters anymore, I think they outlawed them. Even though this trend is useless in South Bend, it is perfect for Spring Break. Pair this with high waisted shorts and a bikini for the outfit you will live in throughout the week.

Service Chic

A lot of people go to Appalachia on Spring Break, which is so awesome. If you are planning on going on a service trip next week, I respect you a lot.  Appalachia isn’t that much warmer, but you can still make service style fun. Bring your favorite pair of blue jeans and a bunch of t-shirts.You are going to be on your feet a lot so make sure to pack appropriate footwear, but bring some fun, colorful, and comfy socks to spice it up. Jcrew’s “Campfire socks” are so warm and my personal favorites. You may not have as much flexibility with fashion in this area, but your pictures on Facebook will be equally amazing.

Family Time Fun

Family spring breaks are so underrated. You don’t have to worry about how you look in front of a million guys and your parents buy you dinner. It’s the b-o-m-b. For a family vacation, forget the crop top and go with something a little more conservative, like a boho top or dress.

No matter where you are headed, have an amazing and hopefully relaxing spring break!
