My Top Four Faux Lashes – Finding Falsies that Fit You Best

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

I’ve only worn fake lashes a handful of times in my life, and these have been mostly neutral experiences I wouldn’t necessarily praise or complain about. It hasn’t been until recently – when I found myself looking for falsies to wear to two weddings in a row – that I discovered just how much of a difference a pair of great lashes can make.

Besides the boost in the pure aesthetic of your makeup, having a little extra fullness was also a major boost in confidence and a lot of fun to wear!

Although my search was mostly tailored for hooded, almond-shaped eyes like mine, here are some cosmetic companies that stood out in my search. Each is dedicated to making lashes for everyone’s unique windows to their souls:

Doux Lashes

Although produced in California, these lashes are made with premium silk fibers from Korea. On top of their dedication to quality, each pair of Doux Lashes are hand-crafted, cruelty-free and ethically sourced. The lashes claim to bring out the natural beauty of one’s eyes, no matter their shape. They seem to be popular with many Asian beauty gurus and influencers such as American makeup artist and entrepreneur, Michelle Phan, who is most known for her YouTube channel of over 8.9 million subscribers.

House of Lashes

Their lashes tailor to all the different eye shapes, with a large variety of falsies to fit everyone’s individual needs. Also based in California and creating quality, cruelty-free lashes, the House of Lashes identity personally spoke to my new appreciation for finding lashes that work for you.

Crave Lashes

One barrier to using a good pair of fake lashes is the actual process of putting them on. Crave lashes are generally more inclusive as they aim to make it easier and faster for you to put their lashes on. Because the lashes are more flexible and “pre-curved”, adhering Crave Lashes saves beginners a lot of time and effort. You can use them up to 20 times, saving you money as well.

Sephora

Lastly, like many products within Sephora’s own line of cosmetics, their lashes didn’t seem to have much of the internet-hype the other lashes brands did. I actually went with one of these, however, simply because I could physically see them in the store. Though I can’t say for sure that this choice was better than my other options, I did appreciate the options Sephora offered in a variety of prices, qualities and sizes.

One last thing to note was how important I realized lash glue was in this process. I used one of Sephora’s black, brush-tip lash glues. In contrast to some of the cheaper and chunkier glue I’ve used previously, the black, thinner glue was much more inconspicuous and added to the natural enhancement of the lashes!
