Meet Meghan! PDUB’s President Meghan Cain ’18

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Meet Meghan Cain, the smart, beautiful, fun and talented president of Pasquerilla West!

Year: Sophomore

Major(s): Music (Vocal Performance) and Psychology

Minor: Business Econ

Hometown: Baltimore, MD

Anything that you miss from Baltimore?

I mostly miss the food! There’s great seafood, Maryland blue crabs, Old Bay, which is a seasoning that is specifically for crabs/seafood, pretty much everything crab flavored, and also Berger cookies! I also miss Baltimore accents!

What did you do over the summer?

I worked at the Father McKenna center in DC Summer Service Learning Program, and I also worked as a counselor at Camp Kesem, which is a program through ND. It’s a week long camp for children whose families have been affected by cancer. It was the most hands-on and educational summer of my life, and I learned so much from it!!! I met so many great people!!

What was your Halloween costume this year?

Edna Mode- I was also a devil and a dalmation, but I think those are less exciting.

When Meghan sings, I CAIN’t even

Can you tell us a bit about your major(s)? What made you choose them?

I chose to study Psych because my ultimate goal is to learn about people and about the way they think. I think psychology is one of the best ways to learn how to do that. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I want to try to merge the two majors somehow. I’d like to study how music influences the way that we think or how it affects the mind in general.

You have such an amazing voice! What do you enjoy most about singing? What kind of music do you like to sing?

I like how each performance is unique; each time, even for the same music, it’s a different experience, with different emotions and a different dynamic with the audience. I also think it’s a comforting experience in being so vulnerable, opening up your soul to other people. It’s so easy to lose yourself in singing; when I’m really involved in singing, I forget about everything else.

What activities are you involved in on campus?

I’m President of PDUB this year (Go weasels!). I’m also a student tour guide, involved in PEMCo productions, a member of Camp Kesem, and I’m involved in Opera Notre Dame.

Recently, you starred as Claire in PEMCo’s production of Ordinary Days!! Congratulations on an amazing performance!!! What was that like?

Ordinary Days was the best experience with theater I’ve had so far! We were given so much freedom with the whole process. Quint, the director, and the entire cast were so generous and willing to take risks and so trusting. I also felt super connected to the character and show because it was so intimate, and I feel like I learned a lot from the characters and the experience!

Peace, Love, PW

What’s your favorite part about living in PDUB?

We always say the phrase “Peace, Love, PW” which sounds a little funny, but it’s really true! My favorite thing about PW is the feeling I get when I walk in the door, it’s a feeling of “I’m home” that can only come from a place where you know you are loved.

What do you like most about being PDUB’s President this year?

I love being able to witness all of my friends using their talents well to make a change within the dorm!

As president, what are your plans/goals for the year?

Our goal this year is to increase our presence both on campus and in the community. We already hosted our first ever signature event this fall, Pasquerilla Water Works and have a Day of Service approaching in a couple weeks. We hope to host at least a couple more events like these by the end of the year, so keep an eye out!

What’s your favorite Notre Dame memory?

The first time I sang the alma mater in the stadium, and every time since.
