Hitting Gappers with Baseball’s Scott Tully

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Meet Scott Tully. To you, he may just be another pitcher with a nasty change-up, but lets change things up a bit and get to know this gap-toothed, Taylor Swift loving man of Eddy Street.

Hometown: Reading, Massachusetts

Major: Double Major in Finance and Political Science

Dorm:

Well, I started off in Morrissey and was lucky enough to get a room literally filled with hundreds of stink bugs so that was awesome. Fortunately my teammate Cavan Biggio brought me into St. Eds my sophomore year, but we both moved over to Eddy Street this year, which has been, to say the least, a huge upgrade over the dorms.

Relationship Status: Single as a Pringle (Feel free to swipe right)

Fun Fact:

I’m probably one of the only Liberal Democrats on this campus.

Best Facial Feature:

100% my best facial feature is the gap in between my front teeth. It probably makes me look like a ten year old, but it’s unique and probably can get me a TV show with Kelly Rippa. I actually have the gap because I refused to get braces as a kid (and then tried to get my parents to give me the money they would have spent on braces).

Spirit Animal: Walrus. Teeth, tusks, same thing.

Weirdest Superstition: I always tie my left shoe first. No idea why.

Favorite pregame pump up song: Shipping Up to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys

Walk up song: Blank Space

Celebrity Crush:

Probably the easiest question I’ve ever been asked. I’m completely in love with Taylor Swift and I don’t care who knows it. (Taylor, if you’re reading this I would love to take you on a date and then maybe we can go to CJs after)

Athlete Role Model:

Tom Brady, TB12, The GOAT, 4 time Super Bowl Champion and the greatest human to ever walk the face of the earth. I would do murder for Tom. (He’s also second on my celebrity crush list)

Position: Left Handed Pitcher

How long have you been playing baseball?

Ever since I can remember.

What is your favorite thing about being on the Notre Dame baseball team?

Hands down the best part of being on the team is the relationships you create with your teammates. We like to refer to ourselves more as a family than a team, and I think that’s a really good representation of how close we are.

What is your game day routine?

I always show up to the field with an iced coffee in my hand, take a shower, mess around while the hitters take BP, complain about classes, and then start stretching and throwing like 20 minutes before the game starts. (Pitchers basically do nothing)

If you could play any other sport at Notre Dame which sport would it be and why?

Does anyone ever have an answer to this question other than ‘football’?

Favorite girls team at ND:

Girls Lax, no brainer.

Thanks so much Scott! I’m sure if you cannot get Taylor Swift to join you at CJ’s, a fine lady of Notre Dame would gladly join you.
