HCND Hammes Bookstore Christmas Shopping Guide!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

HCND HAS EXCITING NEWS!

We teamed up with the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore to bring you our very own Notre Dame Christmas shopping guide! While attempting to highlight the entire place, because, let’s face it, the Bookstore is KILLIN’ IT this season, we narrowed down our Christmas wish list to five fabulous categories: Stocking Stuffers, Gifts for Your Inner Collegiette, Mom and Dad, Friends and Roomies, and For Your Favorite ND Alumni

Check out the video!

I’m proud to say I only broke down giggling three times during filming.

Here’s a breakdown of our favorites for this Christmas season:

Stocking Stuffers

We started with small, simple presents that can go straight into a stocking, complement a pre-existing gift, or be given to the host of your next Christmas party!

The Green ND Santa Hat is the perfect addition to your Ugly Christmas Sweater Party attire and makes for a great Secret Santa or White Elephant gift.

The Under Armour Socks have so many options; you can’t go wrong grabbing a pair for a friend. With more winter weather coming, everyone loves to layer – have your friends and family rep ND while they do so! Plus, with both men’s and women’s styles, you can get a pair for everyone on your list!

We’re obsessed with all that glitters, making the Glitter Monogram Ornaments perfect for our tree this year! Mom, if you’re reading this – throw these ornaments in our stockings, please!

Is there anything cuter than baby Domers? “The Spirit of Christmas at Notre Dame” children’s book is gorgeous and the best possible way to start shaping those malleable minds. With illustrations done by alumnus Nicholas Gunty, this easy gift is sure to wow nieces, nephews, younger siblings, or any other ND lover out there!

Gifts for Your Inner Collegiette

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without treating yourself. Every time we set foot in the Bookstore, we spot a hundred different things we know we would love to own!

The first of these is the Warden-Brooks Tote Bag. It adds a girly pink element to the classic ND navy in the form of a durable canvas tote.

The green Chevron Scarf is a new item this year. It combines the trendy infinity scarf with our favorite kelly green for an instant touch of team spirit.

Row One Pink Sneakers put all other tennies to shame. The collegiette approved pink-and-monogram design is basically essential for tailgate season, and beyond. And don’t think ND is the only place you can sport these bright sneakers – we would definitely strut our stuff in this adorable design all year long!

If you don’t already love Alex and Ani bracelets, you’re sure to after you check out their Notre Dame collection! Simple, charming, and versatile, the Alex and Ani ND bracelets come in a variety of options you won’t want to miss out on!

Mom and Dad

To be honest, sometimes your father is the most challenging person to buy for. He already has everything, so why not get him everything with an ND stamped on it?! Of course, mom is a bit easier – she’ll love anything you buy her because she’s your mom. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t buy a gift you know is perfect for her!

Tervis Tumblers are essential to any on-the-go parent, and Hammes has them in every Notre Dame design you could possibly imagine. For hot or cold beverages, the Tervis Tumbler is a great gift for mom or dad.

A beautiful, Celtic Bauble Ornament is sure to class up any Christmas tree and it makes an awesome keepsake for your sentimental ‘rents.

While we’re talking about parents on the go, the Warden-Brooks Duffel Bag is the best way to be sure your parents are supporting your school while they travel. The tiny ND detail isn’t overwhelming, but still expresses the luck of the Irish.

The ND Gatsby Hat, which comes in several colors, is a seriously underrated cold weather accessory for the posh gentlemen in your life. Of course, if hats aren’t really his thing, there’s always the standard Vineyard Vines Tie, also available in gold, navy, and pink!

If your mother is like our moms, she gets cold easily. Warm up that little lady by gifting her an Ireland Collection Snood or Scarf! Not only is it functional, but the entire Ireland Collection for the ND Bookstore is absolutely stunning and made exclusively in Ireland!

Friends and Roomies!

It’s always fun to buy for the ladies you spend the most time with. You can’t go wrong with any of these fun items for friends and roommates!

You’ve probably seen them around campus – at games, in class, at the gym. They’re everywhere! ND’s answer to Spirit Jerseys are the even better RaRa Tees. They come in navy, gold, green, pink, purple, white, grey, and light blue. Our CC/EIC have the purple one so she can vouch for the comfort and convenience of these fantastic tees!

With football season nearly over, next on the athletics agenda is hockey! GO TO HOCKEY GAMES! They are so much fun! Make sure you bring your friends along. Convince them to come with a Lace Up Hockey Hoodie. Spread that school spirit even with Notre Dame Stadium closed for the season.

When we saw the Warden-Brooks Portfolio, we assumed it was just another makeup bag. In reality, this handy little case is perfect for storing your iPad, school supplies, or cosmetics. It’s a foolproof gift for any friend.

We all know how popular Ugly Christmas Sweater parties are. An abundance of crazy 80s and 90s sweaters have cropped up over the past few years. The Hammes Bookstore talked to their friends at Champion(c) and came up with brilliant idea to combine the ND Spirit with this quirky holiday staple – ND Ugly Christmas Sweater T-shirts and Sweatshirts! Don’t miss out on this fantastic piece!

For Your Favorite ND Alumni

Nearly everyone here knows someone who graduated from these hallowed halls. Celebrate that special alum in your life with one of these great items. (Side note: thank you, alumni, for all you do for us students! You’re amazing and we are so #blessed to have you!)

For the first time ever, an ND supplier has put the slogan “God, Country, Notre Dame” on an apparel item. The Under Armour God, Country, Notre Dame T-Shirts combine all of our favorite things about the University with the newest athletics provider. ND fans everywhere will flip for them!

The Tervis Tumbler is back because we love it THAT much! Get one for mom, dad, your sister, your brother, your neighbor, your old RA, your cousin, your Secret Santa, the possibilities are endless!

Every year, the Bookstore sells a Notre Dame inspired Christmas ornament for alumni. They are always beautiful and always golden. The 2014 Alumni Ornament features the Hesburgh Library, an iconic facade on this campus since 1963. Personally, we think this would make a very meaningful Christmas gift for graduates of Our Lady’s University.

We said it before, and we’ll say it again, the Row One ND Sneakers are perfect for any occasion. Why should tailgates be the only time alumni get to flaunt their Irish pride?

BONUS: HCND Shirt!

No HCND Christmas would be complete without your very own “Love Thee, HCND” Tank

We hope this shopping guide inspires you! Remember, you can purchase any of these items (except the HCND tee) at the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore on campus or online
