Galantis: The Game-Changer for Your Workout Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

I am admittedly the type of person that listens to the same five or six songs on repeat every day until I get tired of them and find five new ones. I’ve tried to change, but I simply cannot. This is the way that I am. I’m always keeping an ear open for new songs to add to my workout playlist in particular; and recently, I realized that the handful of songs that I’m so obsessed with are all by one group: Galantis. These are the songs I listen to not only in the gym but while I’m walking to class, doing homework, showering—basically all the time.

Galantis is a Swedish duo that produces what is objectively some of the best dance music ever. They’re most well known for “No Money” and “Runaway (U & I),” which are two songs that you would probably recognize even if you think you’ve never heard of Galantis before. I had my first Galantis encounter at Lollapalooza the summer after my senior year of high school during a transcendent experience at The Perry’s Stage—all my midwestern gals out there know what I mean. After that summer, I forgot about them until I started taking a spin class freshman year of college where we would listen to “Love on Me” by Galantis for our final sprint at the end of almost every session. One day, I googled the lyrics on my phone—and voilà—I returned to Galantis for good. Now I can’t have a good workout without them.

Just a disclaimer: I’m a BIG cardio gal; so for peak experience, I would recommend adding these songs to a spin or running playlist. Beware listening to these songs while you’re stationary because you’ll probably want to get on a bike or dance around immediately. Enjoy!

Too Good at Goodbye’s – Galantis Remix

This song is my newest discovery, so naturally it had to come first on the list. It truly speaks to the creativity of Galantis that they could turn one of the saddest Sam Smith songs into a total head-banger.

Holy Water”

This one comes off of their brand new album, Church, which I heard at an exclusively Galantis-themed spin class the other week. It was everything (shoutout to Molly’s Tuesday night class). It’s a great warmup song! It’s super uplifting and always gets my workout off to a good start.

Tell Me You Love Me

There are some songs that just take you back to a certain point in time. “Tell Me You Love Me” is one of those all-time faves that totally reminds me of summer.

Peanut Butter Jelly

This one is a total mood booster for when you’re in need of a pick me up. It’s super fun and funky and has the BEST beat that you just have to keep up with on a tough hill.

Love on Me

I saved the best for last with this one. This is the song that re-sparked my love for Galantis. Not going to lie, it puts me into fight or flight mode when the beat drops because I’m so used to playing it during sprints.

For anyone that becomes obsessed with Galantis after listening to some of these songs, they’re performing in Chicago the Friday before Spring Break—March 7! My heart is literally breaking that I can’t go, but I would highly recommend seeing them live if you’re able to!
