Campus Cutie: Paul DiGiovanni ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

After a string of junior guys were featured here as Campus Cuties, we thought it was high time for a senior to get some love. Read on for honest thoughts from two-time calendar model (Men of ND and Tenors of the Notre Dame Folk Choir) and all-around good guy Paul DiGiovanni.

The Basics

Year: Senior

Major: Science-Business

Hometown: Grosse Pointe Park, MI

Dorm Affiliation: Duncan Hall

Relationship Status: Single

So, tell us a bit about yourself.

What will you title your autobiography?

The Weapon of Mass Seduction.

What or who is your spirit animal, and why?

My spirit animal is Ron Swanson, because he eats his bacon with a side of bacon.

You have just been given a single-use time machine. Where will you go?

I would go back to the VMAs and stop Miley Cyrus from ever twerking.

Michelle Branch or Vanessa Carlton?

Wow, this is the hardest question I’ve ever been asked. However, I would walk a thousand miles to find the answer.

Favorite minor character from Frozen:

Sven. He’s a lot like me. Only a bit hairier.

Favorite piece of cinema involving Nicolas Cage:

All of them. The man is the Picasso of acting.

Sippin’ from a pineapple? What a lovable goofball he must be!

What the Ladies Need to Know

What is your biggest dating/relationship pet peeve?

I hate too much PDA. I love love as much as the next guy, but you’re not Siamese twins. Stop that.

What do you look for in a girl?

I’m a big fan of a sense of humor. The only girl who ever laughs at my jokes is my mom.

What is your biggest deal-breaker in a girl?

Cheating. Don’t do it. Even with Ryan Gosling.

Describe your perfect date.

My perfect date would be a date where everything formally planned fails. This sounds weird, but I think you can honestly learn the most about a person through their spontaneity and ability to go with the flow. If you can have a great time when it all goes wrong, I can’t even imagine you when everything goes right.

What’s the one thing all the ladies out there should know about you?

My phone number.

What is your best pick-up line?

“Hey ladies, I think you dropped something.”

“What?”

“Your standards. Hey, I’m Paul.”

He’s been to Ireland! So worldly.

Time at Notre Dame

If you could give your freshman self one piece of advice based on all you know now, what would it be?

I would tell myself not to worry about the future so much. Appreciate the now and be fully present during special moments in your life. These moments make you who you are. And you’ll like the person you become.

What is one thing you’d change about Notre Dame?

Bring back Sbarro. RIP.

What is your favorite Notre Dame memory?

I’ll have to go with the early morning Reckers line.

So, you’ve got 5 weeks – what’s left to do on your Notre Dame bucket list?

Well my goal as of yesterday was to be on Her Campus, but I guess I have to update my list now. I may just run around proposing to girls until one says yes. “Ring by Spring” is obviously last on my list.

Plans for the Future

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I really want to go to New Zealand. It’s one of the few places in the world where zorbing is legal. That’s the sport where they basically put you in a giant hamster ball and roll you down a mountain.

Where do you see yourself in 25 years?

I see myself happily married with four children (three boys and one girl). Hopefully, my mansion will have mini golf.

Any closing remarks?

I just wanted to thank Her Campus Notre Dame for the interview!

No, Paul, thank you.

XOXO, HCND
