As we quickly approach our well-deserved breaks, you might be looking for some new shows to binge-watch instead of interacting with your weird cousins or making small-talk with that one family friend who always gets the pity invite. Never fear, the FTT student is here and ready to give you some great shows to watch over Thanksgiving break.
- Awkward.
-
There’s nothing better than a super cringy TV show with a hot protagonist or two thrown in. This story follows the unfortunate life of an only-child named Jenna. Growing up with younger parents and a crazy best friend has made her life quite interesting. When she catches the attention of the “hottie with a body” at her high school, things get even juicier. You can watch on your prime account…or your friend’s. It’s an MTV original so you know it’s going to be interesting.
- Fleabag
-
Wow! Such an amazing show—I watched both seasons TWICE in one week. Yes you heard me, or read me…I didn’t have that much homework last week. This show is based off of a standup routine that was so good, they decided to turn it into two whole seasons. It’s a little dark and inappropriate, but incredibly relatable. I’m being vague because I don’t want to give anything away, but I guarantee it will make you LOL.
- Jane the Virgin
-
If you haven’t seen this show yet, shame on you and your offspring because it’s both hilarious and clever. Jane, a virgin (surprise), somehow ends up having a child due to an accidental insemination. This story follows her crazy family and how they all end up dealing with her having a baby out of wedlock. It’s clever because it makes fun of soap operas while also being a soap opera.
- How to Get Away With Murder
-
To be honest, I haven’t seen this show in a while, but I remember how much I was into it. In the first season, there is one central murder being solved along with a new trial every week. This keeps it exciting as we follow super sexy law students attempting to solve murders while (spoiler alert) getting away with their own. Viewers, beware: this one can be disturbing, but it’s very addictive and worth a watch, especially if you want to be a lawyer or enjoy courtroom jargon.
- Life in Pieces
-
This show is currently shown on CBS and is something that the whole crew can watch together during the cozy holiday season. It follows a dysfunctional family of grown-up siblings, their parents and the children they’re attempting to raise. This is an ensemble cast and each episode is broken up into seperate parts. Towards the end, all of the mini-episodes come together to make a hilarious finale. Again, great for the whole family and very reminiscent of everyone’s favorite: Modern Family.
Happy holidays, but more importantly, happy watching!
