Especially in the early part of the season, warm temperatures are a normal part of the football game day experience. While definitely preferable to subzero temperatures of late November, the heat makes a day-long face of makeup challenging. Here are my go-to products for a long-wearing face of makeup on the warm weather days.

Sun Bum Face Sunscreen SPF 50

If your skin is anywhere close to as fair as mine, sunscreen is a must, especially in the student sections that are in direct sun. This sunscreen isn’t greasy or oily, and it keeps your skin protected all day from both the sun and the Notre Dame sticker tan lines.

Stila One Step Correct Primer

I swear by this primer. It’s not only hydrating and color-correcting, but it makes a great base for the rest of your makeup. My foundation stays infinitely longer when I use this primer. It’s great by itself as well on days you just want slightly more even skin but don’t have time to put on a full face of makeup.

NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Foundation

I recently started using this full coverage foundation and absolutely love it. The product is long-wearing, and it gives skin such a smooth and flawless appearance (and it’s budget-friendly too).

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Nars’ concealer is a tried and true favorite. I know some love Tarte shape tape, but I love Nars for a long-wearing and hydrating concealer. It’s pigmented without being thick or cakey, which is especially important when you’re outdoors and sweating for most of the day.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

This powder is the true key to long-wearing makeup. I set my whole face with it, bake with it and I use it if I ever need touch-ups. This powder is more than worth the price, and it won’t create flash back in the many photos you’ll take during the day.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer

This bronzer is not only the perfect color for so many skin tones – cool without being ashy – but it’s also waterproof, which gives it a long-wearing finish. It’s a great addition for some color to your face – perfect for long, hot days and works well as an everyday product.

Trisha McEvoy Precision Brow Shaper/Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil

Both of these pencils are great and long-wearing. They won’t smudge or bleed, and they have a great natural finish.

Great Lash by Maybelline Clear Mascara

My very cheap substitute for brow gel is Maybelline’s clear mascara. It’s easy to find in Target, Walgreen’s or CVS, and clear mascara holds my brows in place far better than any brow gel I have tried.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

This eyeshadow primer is great to keep eyeshadow pigmented without any creasing during a long, hot game day. Whether you set it with translucent powder or go right into eyeshadow, it makes a significant difference in the longevity of your eye makeup.

Kylie Cosmetics Eye of the Storm Palette

One of the best Notre Dame game day eyeshadow palettes is Kylie Cosmetics’ Eye of the Storm. It not only has gorgeous shimmery gold, green and navy shades, but it also has neutrals perfect for everyday wear.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

This mascara is always a favorite for its dark black pigment and long wear. The smaller waterproof size is also a great purchase if you rarely wear waterproof mascara but want something extra durable for a long, hot day of football and tailgates.

Lilly Lashes in Goddess

If your skin is anything like mine, mascara will easily bleed onto it during the day. I love using falsies as a barrier between my natural lashes and my skin to prevent this problem on long days, especially when it’s hot. My favorite pair is the Goddess lashes from Lilly Lashes. They’re more than worth the price, and they hold up for about thirty wears. They’re dramatic without looking unnatural, which is a great complement to any makeup look.

Lip Liner

My warm day go-to is lip liner because it leaves a natural finish. I especially love Kylie Cosmetics’ Libra and Charm lip liners for a good nude or pale pink respectively, and NYX’s SPL857 Nude Beige.

Gameday makeup often presents challenges while being in the heat and sun all day, but these products are tried and true. They will last for a long time and give you a great look for a day of football. Go Irish!
