As a college student, I’ve never had very much time to update my wardrobe, and often find myself trying to fit into clothes from high school that don’t fit anymore. As I’m getting older, I’m realizing the importance of having a few great pieces that never go out of style, but I don’t know how to find those pieces myself, and I don’t have the time or the effort to put in.

Enter Stitch Fix, a personal stylist service that sends 5 personalized garments right to your door, based on your size, style, and price preferences. You can also link a pinterest board to your stylist and let them get a more intimate idea of who you are fashion wise.

After my first month, I was impressed. Everything felt really tailored to me, they even sent me a piece I had pinned! My stylist gave me a sheet with two outfit options for each of the pieces I was sent, and I even used one of them and got so many compliments. Check out the stuff I got!

I was super pleased with everything, especially the two tops! My stylist really listened to everything I said, especially when I mentioned I needed a couple pieces for a beach trip. The sizes were all perfect and flattering on me – you have to give your measurements and what parts of your body you like to show off vs. keep covered in the little quiz before you schedule a fix, so everything is fit to your liking!

As for affordability on a college budget, for the five pieces I received, everything seemed very reasonably priced. But if you keep all five items, you receive 25% off your order, which, even if I wanted to keep 3/5, it’s actually cheaper to keep all five items! You also get a twenty dollar credit applied to the fix no matter how many you keep, but if you keep none, you are charged that twenty dollar styling fee. Here’s the final tab for my order if I keep all five:

It cuts about a hundred dollars off, and the garments are all high quality. While I may not have the cash to schedule fixes every months, I could definitely see myself doing it every three months or whenever I feel like updating my wardrobe a little bit. When you fill out your style profile, you can also indicate how much you’re willing to spend on different types of clothes. I said I would spend a little more on some things, but overall I set mine to the most basic price levels, so keep that in mind when considering whether or not to try Stitch Fix.

Overall, I loved this service and would definitely try it again, and would recommend it to anyone who isn’t always great at shopping for themselves, or even styling themselves. The outfit recommendations are also super helpful because they recommend utilizing pieces you likely already have in your closet – if not something similar, to supplement the beautiful clothes you are given.
