Most rewarding experience at NU?
This is a hard one…my most rewarding experience would have to be serving as the Vice President of Programming for my sorority.  It’s a position that’s not only allowed me to get really involved and invested with my chapter and with the women in it, but it’s also taught me so many important team leadership lessons and has allowed me to really make a significant impact on my chapter’s traditions and goals for the future!

You were very recently elected to the role of PHA president, why did you decide to run for a PHA position and what about president appealed to you most?
I honestly ran for PHA without a major preference for a position.  I’ve wanted to be on the board for a really long time because I was so attracted to the opportunities for connecting with people from every chapter and the opportunity to influence the Greek community as a whole!  I felt like my previous Greek leadership experiences had really prepared me for the role of president, so I decided to give it a go!  After going through the application and interview process, it became clear to me that the role of president would be the best fit for making the positive influence that I hope to have on the community, and I couldn’t be more honored to have been elected.  I’m so excited for the year ahead!

What are some of the goals you hope to accomplish while holding this position?
I would really like to see PHA reach out to chapter leaders this year and work towards creating a greater sense of collaboration between chapters.  I think at times PHA can seem distant and impersonal to chapter leaders, and that shouldn’t be the case!  I’d like to see increased face time, increased communication and especially increased collaboration.  As individual chapters it can be so easy to feel separate, or at times even competitive, but in all honesty we are each other’s greatest resources.  We are in such similar situations and face such similar issues and I’d like to see PHA help to foster more collaboration between chapters.  I think that chapter officers have the most direct impact on the community and so in order to build up a stronger Greek system at Northwestern, the most effective place to start will be with investing in our chapter leadership!

What do you love about Greek life at NU?
I love so many things about Greek life at NU!  Apart from all of the fun programming and leadership opportunities, I love the sense of community it creates.  Being in the Greek system gives you so many instant connections!  I’m from a really small town, and being in the Greek system honestly makes me feel more connected and more at home on this campus!

What do you do for fun in your free time?
For fun- I love to see student theatre.  It’s one of my favorite parts about Northwestern!  I see a lot of student shows on weekends and love supporting my many talented friends! Seriously, people are so talented here!  I also love having adventures downtown and I love the occasional girl’s night in for Disney movie sing-a-longs.

What are you future goals/post graduation plans?
That is the million dollar question, isn’t it?  I am officially unsure.  At this time I’m seriously considering a few things- one is to go on to grad school for student affairs and work in university administration.  I’ve also considered a more corporate career path focusing on PR and marketing and possibly attending business school one day.  And then part of me thinks it would be really rewarding to be a marriage counselor someday.  But I feel like you have to have some actual marital experience for that, so that could be a ways off.
