Are you ready for the newest way to Lift, Tone, and Burn? If you are looking for a fast, fun way to fit a workout into your busy schedule, or for an exercise lifestyle change, the people behind the new Pure Barre franchise in Evanston want you.

Pure Barre, the largest ballet barre franchise in the nation, has just opened in Evanston to offer a whole new dimension to working out just in time for the new school year. According to Pure Barre’s website, they offer a total body workout that uses the ballet barre to help transform the shape of a woman’s body in record-breaking time.  Brynn Samp, Northwestern senior and “Barretender” at Pure Barre Evanston, explains the technique, which involves a stretching section that helps to create long lean muscles without bulk, and also protects joints.  “Pure Barre is very different from any other fitness class. We target the entire body and one of the best things about Pure Barre is that it’s no impact,” she says.

Pure Barre combines aspects of pilates, yoga, and ballet, into a fifty-five minute work out that will make you feel empowered and clear headed just in time to get back to studying. Each high energy class is backed by upbeat music and led by trained instructors who educate while encouraging you to take time away from business to focus on your inner self. Brynn discussed how Pure Barre instills the idea that “you are stronger than you think you are,” regardless of your athleticism.

As a retired gymnast I was always looking for a special type of workout that could give me the same satisfaction that I felt after completing a practice at the gym with my team. I had tried yoga and pilates, but I would never leave feeling satisfied, and always felt that I was on my own. After my first class at Pure Barre I was hooked. I left feeling energized and ready to move on with the rest of my day! Unlike hot yoga where I dare be seen after sweating my guts out, Pure Barre allows you to carry on with your life, a bonus for college students especially trying to fit their workout in in between classes. Pure Barre also claims on their site to be more than just a workout, but rather a lifestyle company where women create a sense of community that helps them succeed. I can attest to that.

You do not need to have any previous training to become a Pure Barre guru. Simply show up to class with yoga pants and a tank top, staples to all girls’ wardrobes, as well as socks, traction socks work best to help grip the floor especially during planks, and you are ready to go.  What’s even better, Pure Barre Evanston is located right across from Urban Outfitters and next to American Apparel (for you fashionistas) at 910 Church Street.

So, if you are ready to embrace that little girl inside you who always wished she could become a ballerina, this is the place for you.
