Finding an internship is a struggle for all of us. The pressure to find a dream job before graduating is detrimental to a college student’s mental health. Enter: Lauren Berger, the Intern Queen. Why is she the Intern Queen, you ask? Because she understands the struggle and wants to help young, ambitious people land the jobs they deserve.

Berger grew up in Florida and attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned a degree in Organizational Business Communications. During her college years, she participated in 15 different internships (hence, the title “Intern Queen”). She created Intern Queen and Career Queen to help young people find what they love to do. Today, she reaches over 6 million people and connects them with their dream careers. Here’s how she does it:

Books

Reading is still cool, and Berger makes it even cooler. Her two books are inspiring and helpful for the young, eager college student. Her first book, All Work, No Pay: Finding an Internship, Building Your Resume, Making Connections, and Gaining Job Experience, is a national best-seller, and for good reason. Her newest book Welcome to the Real World: Finding Your Place, Perfecting Your Work, and Turning Your Job into Your Dream Career, provides the next step. Berger encourages us workforce newbies to take risks while teaching us how to deal with rejection and navigate tricky workplace situations.

YouTube channel

Berger’s YouTube channel has any type of career advice you could want: from job search basics to interview advice. She releases a new video every Wednesday to her channel of over 28,000 subscribers. Watching one of these videos before a job interview is the perfect way to prepare. Berger also has videos showing the perfect interview and job attire. And if you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, she also has a healthy dose of inspiring videos on entrepreneurship.

Website

Berger has not one but two successful job search websites: internqueen.com and careerqueen.com. Through this website, the Intern Queen connects college students with elite brands and exciting opportunities. Her current roster of clients includes Michael Kors, Keurig, Whole Foods, Schwinn, Duncan Hines, Estee Lauder, and over 30 other major brands. She makes the job search easier, allowing students to filter though the career they want and allowing top brands to advertise jobs on her website. Besides providing expert job and internship searches, her website also offers an amazing blog with advice from college students and career experts.

Speaker events

Every year, Berger speaks at over 50 conferences, colleges, high schools, and leadership events. She provides her amazing advice in person, while answering questions and inspiring the next generations of interns. Oh, and did we mention she is coming to Northwestern on Friday?
