The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to Sex and the City, has provided young women everywhere a chance to relive the life of Carrie Bradshaw.

Carrie Bradshaw and her famous Manolo Blahniks captivated and dazzled women across the country as the petite New York journalist and ultimate fashionista appeared on TV in the hit series Sex and the City. The show followed her and her three best friends, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes through their highs and lows with work, relationships and mostly sex.

When the show came to an end women everywhere were left wondering what would happen next to Carrie? Two movies were produced and still that was not enough.

Then The Carrie Diaries popped up. The show follows 16-year-old Carrie, a high school junior, as she deals with her family, friends, love and sex all while trying to pursue her love for writing in the big city of Manhattan. Its second season began this January, but the show is already reportedly in jeopardy of being cancelled after the season, to the dismay of some Northwestern students.

Northwestern student Naomi Gutstein said, “When I heard that the CW was airing a prequel to Sex and the City I was so excited! I have watched every episode of Sex and the City and knew I would be obsessed with the Carrie Diaries from the beginning. I love watching Carrie embark on her first adventures into the city because I still remember how exciting it was for me the first times my friends and I went into the city.”

Young women everywhere are gravitating to the Carrie Diaries wanting to know more about Carrie’s life before she became Big.

Shani Azizollahoff, Naomi’s roommate, loves Sex and the City and enjoys watching the prequel with her roommate. They can’t wait for young Carrie’s next move.

Teens and young women everywhere are able to relate to Carrie’s high school experiences whether they are going through them now or have already past that phase in their lives. Her relationship with Sebastian Kydd, the sexy stud of the class, keeps viewers wanting more. Their on and off relationship precedes Carrie’s later love with Mr. Big.

The Carrie Diaries captures the life of a girl growing up in a suburban town trying to break free by pursuing her passions. The show provides viewers everywhere a relatable story where they can seek advice and learn from Carrie’s mistakes.
