Valentine’s Day Outfits For Every Event

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

The most romantic time of the year has come! Chocolates in heart-shaped boxes, bouquets of flowers, and if you’re lucky, someone special to spend it with.

It’s Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is either the worst day of the year or the best, depending on if you have anyone to celebrate it with. But there are so many events that you can do with just your friends, family, and even your relatives.

But the most important part of the entire day is having the outfit for it! What do you wear to a party with your friends, a dinner with your special someone, or just relaxing on your couch watching romance movies?

Here are some ideas for Valentine’s Day outfits for every event:

Going Out With Friends

There is nothing wrong with going out with your friends on Valentine’s Day. Having a great time on this day is really what it’s all about. You don’t need a guy in a your life to make you feel special. With that being said, you still want to look good!

If you’re feeling bold, go for the red or burgundy. If you’re not, go for silver or gold. Stand out in your group of friends and you’ll be the one that’s catching someone else’s eye. Finish it off with a pair of killer but simple black heels and a gorgeous gold clutch!

Date Night With Your Special Someone

Impressing your date is something that is always on a girl’s mind. Whether it’s a dinner at a fancy restaurant or a movie and take-out, dressing to impress is never the wrong move. If they’re going to spend money at a restaurant, you can spend the money on looking good.

A bold red cocktail dress for a special dinner is exactly what a girl needs. Pair that with a pair of over-the-knee black boots and a simple cross-body purse and they won’t be able to take their eyes off of you the entire night.

A Causal Night In

Or, maybe you are in the stage of a relationship where you guys are okay with a movie and take-out at their house. You guys do not want to be surrounded by other couples in a crowded restaurant, spending too much on dinner. But that does not mean that you cannot look nice. It is still Valentine’s Day! A nice pair of skinny jeans, a leather jacket and a simple shirt can go a long way. Cuddle up with them, looking your best.

The Same Old Day

If February 14th is just another day to you, so be it! Not everyone likes this holiday and that is totally okay. Treat this day like any normal day but fashion is still key. Just because you do not like this holiday as much as the other girls does not mean you cannot try like they would to look good on this day. Do not overdo it but do not spend the day in your pajamas, feeling sad because you do not have a special someone.

Go shopping, go get your nails done and do everything you would if you did have a special someone. Make the most of your time and do not regret not having someone there.

Wear a denim skirt with a comfy sweater or a pair of nice jeans and an unique jacket. Look good for yourself even if you have no one to dress up for.

Whether Valentine’s Day is spent alone, with your friends or with a partner, looking amazing on this day will not hurt. Do not treat this day worse than any other if you are alone and do not treat it any more special if you have a special someone.

Just remember that a holiday should not be the reason to celebrate being in a relationship or being sad if you are single. There are 364 other days in the whole year where being just who you are matters the most. Make the most of this day just like you would any other day of the year!
