Top 5 Places to Brunch in Boston for Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

If there’s one thing that Bostonians take seriously it’s brunch.  Brunch is a lifestyle, a religion, and part of being a successful bruncher is knowing where to go. There are hundreds (thousands?) of options to choose from, but we’ve got your back and have compiled a list of the five best places! If you’re a college student, you’ll love these even more because of their budget friendly options, as well as for the amazing food! These are great restaurants to go for on Valentine’s day with a date or with your closest girl friends!

1. Masa on Tremont Street

This place is great because it has a very wide and delicious selection of traditional and Latin American inspired brunch dishes for an incredibly affordable price. For under $10 per person, you can have a full meal! Expect to see lots of students from across the city flocking to eat their avocado smeared Santa Fe style Eggs Benedict, or any other delicious dish! The truth is, everything is good, and nobody likes anything more than good food at an affordable price!

2. Trident Booksellers & Café on Newbury Street

Trident is a true staple for brunchers all over the city. Its appeal comes, not only from the deliciousness of the food, but from the atmosphere that the bookstore brings to your entire dining experience. As far as food is concerned, Trident covers all the classics: eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc, but it is oh-so-good! There’s a reason everyone loves it, and that’s because Trident never fails you. Expect to wait quite a bit for a table on the weekends, but it is definitely worth the wait!

3. Five Horses Tavern on Columbus Avenue

A more Southern style type of food, but definitely still great! Their dishes are very affordable and yummy, including their wide variety of breakfast pizzas and sandwiches. Expect to see a lot of people here, especially during weekends, but be sure to wait a little bit and you won’t regret it.

4. Thornton’s on Huntington Avenue

This staple brunch place for all Northeastern students is and will always be an all time classic. They have everything for everyone: sweet, savory, traditional, and straight up delicious breakfast foods. Their french toast and eggs benedict are legendary. The most convenient thing about Thornton’s isn’t only the affordability, but the fact that it is just a short walk away from campus. Who wouldn’t want to have readily available brunch at any given time?

5. Hei La Moon in Chinatown

The most unusual place on this list, but still a definite must try. If you’ve never had traditional dim sum brunch before, perhaps it is best to bring a friend who knows how to work out the serving system, but once you have the hang of it, it’s one of the best brunches in the city! They have all the staples in dim sum: Ha Gao, Siu Mai, Sweet Pork Buns.. anyway, all the ones you want and must try! It’s a little farther than the other places, but worth the commute and the wait. Once you’ve tried dim sum, you have to keep going back!
