Alright, let’s address the elephant in the room.
As most of you NU Collegiettes have probably heard, Northeastern just announced our Springfest line-up! This year’s performances will include Kid Cudi and Cage the Elephant, who is this week’s featured Campus Celeb!
Cage the Elephant is made up of five members (all of them being pretty cute!), including a set of brothers: Matt Schultz (lead vocals), Lincoln Parish (lead guitar), Brad Schultz (rhythm guitar), Daniel Tichenor (bass guitar and back-up vocals), and Jared Champion (drums).
A pop-rock band hailing from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Cage the Elephant formed in mid-2006 and has since gained a large following in America, Canada, and the UK. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2008. Their second album, “Thank You, Happy Birthday” came out in March of 2011.
The band got their name after a crazy man off of the street randomly hugged lead singer Matt Schultz one night while in Knoxville, Tennessee and started saying “You have to cage the elephant, you have to cage the elephant.” Cool, right?
Cage the Elephant is best-known for their punk-funk sound and their exciting, electric performances, so it should be fun to see them at Springfest! For more information on Cage the Elephant, you can check out their website or download their music on iTunes! This year’s Springfest is gearing up to be a good one!
