As winter draws to a slow end, and Spring has not quite sprung, many of us find ourselves in a fashion rut. We’ve been wearing layers upon layers for the last 4 months, and are eager to whip out those open toed shoes and colorful dresses.

Although the end of February is a hard time for fresh attire inspiration, communications major Gillian Riordan has found a way out of the rut. Gillian was spotted wearing a bright red blazer; the perfect splash of color in the midst of a dreary season.

The rest of her outfit is a lot more subtle, as she decks herself out in black and white. The slightly textured shirt under her blazer gives a whole new spin to the simple, white tank. Her black skinny jeans and black riding boots with gold accents top off this sophisticated look.

Gillian adds the perfect amount of simple jewelry to accentuate her get-up; a pair of ball earrings, a short pendant necklace, silver ring, and gold spiked bracelet. The skinny cuff adds dimension to the outfit where it is needed most.

Her long waves relax this put-together look, and show off her healthy locks.

Gillian considers her style as a mix between classic and somewhat edgy.

Her look can be fitting for any season, with just a few replacements needed. Gillian’s pants can be swapped for shorts in the Spring, boots for wedges in the Summer, and a chunky scarf can be added for Fall. The ensemble can also be dressed up or dressed down for various occasions. For a more mature feel, add a slicked pony, and for a more casual version, add bright colored pants to the already colorful top.

Gillian’s look head-to-toe: Blazer- Urban Outfitters, on sale for $49; tank- J.Crew, around $40; jeans- Marshall’s; boots- Steve Madden, around $170.
