Listen up: it’s getting cold out there! Seeing our Winter last year was more than lacking (this coming from me, the girl from Panama), it only makes sense we get a terrible Winter this year. While it is not unbearable as of yet, recent weather reports have forecasted severe drops in temperature for this coming week, some dropping as low as 14º F!

So, before Boston turns into a giant pile of snow and ice…

We’ll give you a few tips that’ll hopefully help you stay warm and cozy in the next week!

1. The key to staying warm is to strategically layer your clothes and only go out when absolutely necessary.

2. Always, always, always wear a hat/beanie/ear warmers AND gloves!

3. Make sure you’re wearing weather appropriate shoes. This means to say waterproof or snow boots with secure, anti slip soles. You don’t want to get injured by slipping on ice.

4. Try out these DIY coat pocket hand warmers! There’s nothing better than having warm hands when it’s freezing cold out.

5. Have a hot beverage: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. That warm and toasty feeling you get from holding a warm mug between your hands is second to none.

6. If you don’t have carpet, wear socks or slippers when you’re at home. This might be obvious, but cold feet are not fun!

7. Make sure your windows, doors are securely closed, and avoid drafts or cold air seeping in by making sure you have no leaks!

8. Get a move on! Exercise at home with your friends by doing simple stretches or other in place movements. The simple act of keeping your blood moving will help keep your body warm.

9. Cuddle, cuddle, cuddle! This one really doesn’t need any explanation. Stay in bed or on your couch and cuddle with your friends, your family, your pets, anyone really! Cozy up with your favorite blanket and stay inside, that’s the only true way to never be cold!

That’s it! Be careful out there fellow collegiettes! Always know the dangers of being underdressed during below freezing temperatures and keep in mind that it is always better to be overdressed and over bundled than underdressed, especially in the winter!
